i think tomorrow i will try streaming some bahamut lagoon, with near's translation patch, played in higan

i know nothing about either the game or the emulator so this will be an adventure

also if anyone has seen my controller please let me know
higan sure does stop responding to mouse clicks a lot
i am now using bsnes-qt5, whatever that is, and it has the same problem. it reflows when i resize a window, but even trying to close a window does nothing. i have to just kill it and run it again.

also the font size is very small? no idea whose fault this is
due to reasons, i am now doing a full system upgrade,

github copilot has, by their own admission, been trained on mountains of gpl code, so i'm unclear on how it's not a form of laundering open source code into commercial works. the handwave of "it usually doesn't reproduce exact chunks" is not very satisfying Image
copyright does not only cover copying and pasting; it covers derivative works. github copilot was trained on open source code and the sum total of everything it knows was drawn from that code. there is no possible interpretation of "derivative" that does not include this
i'm really tired of the tech industry treating neural networks like magic black boxes that spit out something completely novel, and taking free software for granted while paying out $150k salaries for writing ad delivery systems. the two have finally fused and it sucks

yes of course. you just create a ready-made dossier for anyone who wants to engage in harassment. publicly. and anonymously, so no one can do it to you, or accuse you of harassment

desperately struggling to understand why so many people are making a point of referring to near by the legal name they only revealed at the beginning of their suicide note. how does that seem like an appropriate thing to do
also i'm under the impression they were going by they/them, but they torched enough of their twitter presence that i have nothing to substantiate that
i swear to god if i release a lifetime of stuff as eevee and then i die and people start commenting "Ah, Evelyn, her work meant so much to me" i will fucking haunt them

kiwi farms has killed near/byuu, probably best known as the bsnes developer.

this has got to stop.
i didn't know them very well, but they reached out to sympathize when things seemed most hopeless, which i appreciate beyond words
it's difficult to convey the sheer weight of what i know they felt. feeling like a whole mob is breathing down your neck, every second of every day. always on edge, waiting for the next nightmare to appear from nowhere. never quite sure who you can trust, who will turn on you.

folks on my timeline: "after weeks of community planning to work around difficulties with L1 caching microcode, i finally made addition 0.3% faster on swan lake cpus"

me: "i made my pure lua collision detection system 20% faster by turning off garbage collection"
literally two lines

startup:
collectgarbage('stop')

once per frame:
collectgarbage()

not really lua's fault, it has no notion of when's a "good time" to collect garbage and doesn't know that there's a set time when a game is twiddling its thumbs
hm, well, now there's no perceivable difference if i remove that. naturally. i love too test perf
