Folks, the Sopranos are back. Tony, Carmela, Uncle Richie, Junior and the rest of the gang are together again. Well, sort of. In this fall’s “The Many Saints Of Newark” we meet America’s favourite crime family back when they were teens.
When that screen cut to black at the end of the final season of “Sopranos” we thought we saw the last of Tony and the gang. And so too frankly did David Chase, the creator of the show. But lucky for us, a few years later Chase found one more Soprano story to tell. The early days
Everyone loves a good prequel. In 1999 George Lucas gave fans “Star Wars Episode 1 - the Phantom Menace” which introduced us to young Darth Vader and some other old (and new) friends. Over in this galaxy, “Newark” might give us a similar glimpse of the teenaged Tony Soprano
Could this be the start of an “SCU” (Sopranos Cinematic Universe)? Famously “Star Trek” made the leap from the small screen to the big screen. “Sopranos” took home a lot of Emmys in its heyday but some in Tinseltown are saying “Many Saints” may go marching in... to the Oscars!
The new “Many Saints” is also a family affair, in more ways than one. The studio could have pulled an “Irishman” & digitally de-aged old footage of James Gandolfini but instead his son Michael was cast as young Tony. He does look the part, but these are big (acting) shoes to fill
Some parents out there may think THEY have it rough raising a troubled teen but imagine the handful a young Tony Soprano must have been for his mom and dad. There may be many Saints in Newark, as this film’s title suggests, but just don’t be surprised to run across a sinner or tw

This summer there will be the name of a particular ghost on everyone’s lips. His name? Muncher. He’s just one of the many spooky creatures you can expect to run into in the multiplex in the long-awaited followup to 1989’s smash hit “Ghostbusters II”, “Ghostbusters: Afterlife”
A lot has changed in the world since “Ghostbusters II” was released 32 years ago. The end of the Soviet Union, the death of “The People’s Princess” Lady Di, and the tragic events of 9/11. How will Slimer, Muncher etc be able to cope with this whole new world? Well, we’ll have to
The elephant in the room of course is how “Ghostbusters: Afterlife” director Jason Reitman (the son of “Ghostbusters II” director Ivan) will account for the absence of actor Harold Ramos, one of the original stars of “Ghostbusters II” who sadly passed away a few years ago. What w
If you’ve seen THE NIGHT OF THE HUNTER you know why the GOP are turning on Trump now. They are the simple townsfolk who fell for his mesmerizing Preacherman schtick: now that he is obviously A Bad Man they are chasing after him with pitchforks & torches to cover up being fooled
I am half-kidding but also half not-kidding
I think that the ending of NIGHT OF THE HUNTER, Lillian Gish’s final scene with the children, just gets more and more powerful and profound with time
Serious question: what was the last movie Bruce Willis was in where he was acting and not just being Bruce Willis getting paid to be in the movie? I feel like it might have been Unbreakable but is there a more recent example?
Don't say Live Free or Die Hard because he pretty much phoned that one in
It's been brought to my attention he was kind of trying in Moonrise Kingdom, okay anything more recent than that?
Several movies made this decade are real movies but don’t seem real. They were released in theatres but no one talked about them. They were released on VOD and streaming services but still no one talked about them. This thread will pay tribute to them
THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE, a 2017 drama about an Iraq war soldier dealing with PTSD. Starring Miles Teller and Amy Schumer in a supporting role. I never saw a commercial for it. It opened wide & two weeks later, vanished. Did it come out on video? I’ve never seen it for sale
Ah yes the 2013 drama BROKEN CITY with Marky Mark as a PI hired by the Mayor of New York City, Russell Crowe. It cost 35 million and made 34 million. Directed by one of the Hughes brothers. Is it a real movie? Has anyone seen it? Has anyone seen it since 2014?
