Today marks the 154th Anniversary of the Canadian Confederation when the colonies of Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and the Province of Canada joined together to form the Dominion of Canada.

As we mark this yearโs anniversary, it is important to note that the privilege of living in Canada comes with profound responsibilities.
As we mark this yearโs anniversary, it is important to note that the privilege of living in Canada comes with profound responsibilities.
First among many, is to acknowledge and reflect on the injustice and harm that Indigenous Peoples have been subjected to and continue to be subjected to in Canada.
The second is to lend our voices to and commit ourselves to actionable plans that would positively impact the lives and families of Indigenous Peoples and every Canadian around us.
We may not be able to change the past, but we must learn from it.

Every First of July presents the opportunity to learn from the past, challenge ourselves to do better in the future, rededicate our efforts to address the inequality around us, and approach the task of achieving genuine reconciliation with Indigenous Peoples with renewed vigor.
The best way to love our country is to demand better of itโฆ.and truly do better!
And I am full of optimism and hope that as the proud Canadians that we are, we will collectively achieve this!
