Our transaction just closed, we are now a publicly traded cannabis company.

Got the Unrivaled ticker too! $UNRV

Here’s a little about us:
Today the merger between @unrivaledbrands and Terra Tech has officially closed and become Unrivaled Brands traded on OTC as $UNRV.

In cannabis we call a multi state cannabis operator an "MSO" and there are several scattered all over the country.

Unrivaled is the West Coast MSO
Our grows:

CA - 96 lights in Oakland with another 360 this summer, powering the Korova brand with proprietary genetics.

OR - 140 lights in fully automated greenhouses and 48k sq ft of outdoor in partnership w/ Psychonaut Genetics.

NV - An indoor & processing JV w/ NuLeaf
Our brands:

Korova - A 10+ yr industry vet in legal cannabis, originating with legendary Black Bar 1000mg

STICKS - Starting as a preroll brand, STICKS quickly became a multi category value brand

Cabana - Drops from elite growers one of the most sought after products in Oregon
Our distro:

With our brands and select partners, Unrivaled Distribution serves as many as 1,000 retailers on the west coast from 4 hubs up and down CA and OR.
Our retail:

The Spot: a destination Orange County dispensary

Blum - Oakland: One of the first in Oakland

Blum - San Leandro: Wellness focused

Silver Streak: The Premier Norcal DTC delivery (Under contract)
That's us: The West Coast MSO.

We expect to do $70M this year as we continue expanding our footprint and building iconic consumer brands.

Like most cannabis companies we are traded on the OTC exchange so you need a brokerage account to invest.

Jumped on Amazon to snag a white noise machine and obviously had find the same on Alibaba out of curiosity. 🤓

Housbay and Reacher both selling this same piece….
$13.99 with 1k MOQ. Prob much cheaper than that at the scale of each of these listings.

Housebay didn’t even bother shooting their own product photos. Impressive?
What actually is impressive tho is that Hatch, who has an actual brand in the baby space, is selling nearly the same thing for 4x

A lot of times the commoditization of private label on these marketplaces cannibalizes real brands trying to compete at normal prices.

Not today 🙌🏼

I've worked with developers overseas to build mobile apps, internal tools, SaaS, and everything in between... I've probably saved $250k going this route instead of working with overpriced stateside devs.

You've heard the horror stories... I've never had one.

Here's how I do it:
I'm writing this thread w/ the assumption that you're pretty green in this realm, and never built software before.

If you're a PM you won't like this.

Like anything you hire for and manage: the more you know about it the better.
The first step is to know what you want.

Not the programming languages and the tech stack...

The information. The views. How the user is going to experience that.

For that you need some vocab, you need to be able to think about data, find comps, and sketch wireframes.

Lotta new folks followed along today after the water bottle brand breakdown.

Amazing.

If that’s you, I’ve got 4 things to share that I think you’ll like:
First -

2 threads in a very similar vein to that one.

Here’s one breaking down a small app I built on a whim:
And here’s one breaking down a cost model I put together with my Barbur while getting a cut:

A friend of mine is buying generic water bottles on Alibaba for $1.98 and selling em on Etsy for $14.99.

509 sales!

- Assume <$5ea for shipping
- Net around $7ea after Etsy fees

That’s over $3500 profit.

Lemme show you how to take this from a hustle to a brand though:
I broke this down a bit a few weeks ago, we're gonna go into more detail now.

First things first we need to slap a logo on these.

Adding custom branding and increasing order size will keep cost the same if not less. Now we’ve got the beginnings of a brand.
Next we need hang tags on your water bottles, but you don’t need 10k at a time. Use business cards.

Thick, rounded corners, shapes... a premium or unusual sized business card, a hole punch, and some string.

$40 tops for 1,000 of em

Starbucks customers have something like $1.4 billion in balances in the Starbucks app at any given time.

We give them a billion and a half dollar loan, no interest, and only ask for it back when we want to buy some 90% margin coffee from em. Amazing.

It’s time for a thread 👇🏼
First, what is this number and where does it come from?

This number fluctuates daily, and shows up on Starbucks balance sheet as a Deferred Revenue liability.

Here are the actual balances the last 4 years:
2020: $1,288,500
2019: $1,642,900
2018: $1,269,000
2017: $1,456,500
This Deferred Revenue number includes 2 things:

- Unused Gift cards
- Unused app deposits

Everyone is familiar with gift cards, but the majority of this # is a relatively fluid flow of deposits/spending through their mobile app.

Deposit, spend, repeat.
