So apparently some low carb diet-promoting lifestyle doc is challenging me to come on his podcast this Friday to "debate" a certain local holistic vegan cardiologist whom I took to task the other day for his fear mongering about #CovidVaccine. 1/
Oddly enough, I'd never heard of this guy before he decided to insert himself into the thread about our antivax holistic cardiologist the other day, but then I'm not broadly familiar with the keto/vegan/low carb miracle diet brigade. Mea culpa, I guess. 2/
Predictably, when I didn't answer him right away, he started taunting me. ("DoN'T yOu waNT tO eDuCAte PeoPle aBouT vaCcIneS???) And, of course, calling me a coward.🙄 3/

Woo-hoo! I just got my M1 iMac! But, hey, @Apple & @FedEx, WTF? No signature was required, and the computer was left on the porch while my wife and I were out! There was no way to redirect the delivery "because of the pandemic." Fortunately my wife got home earlier than expected.
Seriously, what would my recourse have been if a porch pirate had taken the computer during the couple of hours it sat on the porch? I have a security camera, but most porch pirates are smart enough at least to cover their faces.
I mean, I appreciate @FedEx delivering a couple of days earlier than expected, but getting a message on the morning of delivery, too late for any change in plans given that I was in clinic and my wife had business, with no clear way to postpone or redirect it? Not cool.

If you think @MartyMakary has any credibility left on #COVID19, then consider this. He's citing @RobertKennedyJr's antivax propaganda site @ChildrensHD. Yikes! RFK Jr. is the one who 16 years ago popularized the myth that mercury in vaccines causes autism.🙄
Since then, RFK Jr. has been one of the leaders of the antivaccine movement. Of late, he's been doing his best to demonize #CovidVaccines with pseudoscience, bad science, and conspiracy theories. sciencebasedmedicine.org/the-covid-19-v…
Here's a hint for @MartyMakary. If you have to cite a rabidly antivax group led by someone who's been a leader of the antivax movement for >16 years to support your argument, maybe your argument is not so good.🙄

This is just the next step in a longstanding antivax strategy to portray themselves as an oppressed minority. Their misuse of the Yellow Star of David is the most egregious example of course. 1/

Not exactly. Scientists have always conceded that #lableak was *possible.* The problem is, it was never very plausible compared to a natural origin for #SARSCoV2. It tended to be dismissed for other reasons, too.
Basically, from the very beginning, the arguments made in favor of #lableak tended to range from appeals to ignorance to risible misunderstandings of molecular biology and evolution to outright conspiracy theories. And nothing has changed. sciencebasedmedicine.org/the-origin-of-…
Zoonotic transfer has occurred many times and caused a number of pandemics. It just requires nature to be nature and do what it's always done. #lableak, OTOH, requires a massive cover-up by a vast network of scientists, civilians, and government officials. massivesci.com/articles/sars-…

Over the last month, there has been considerable chatter about the #COVID19 #lableak hypothesis for the origin of #SARSCoV2, and President Biden even ordered US intelligence agencies to look into it. What, if anything, has changed? Is there new evidence? sciencebasedmedicine.org/the-origin-of-…
Spoiler alert: There's no new evidence to support #LabLeakTheory, and the arguments and evidence behind the claim that #SARSCoV2 was engineered is really weak. Bottom line: it's possible that the virus escaped from a lab, but far less likely than natural origin.
As an aside, I'm predicting that the comments section after my post will be turning into a real shitshow soon, once the #lableak trolls discover it. I apologize to our regular moderator, who will have to deal with it.
