Truly disgraceful. Marcus Rashford mural defaced -bbc.co.uk/news/uk-englan… ... I hope to hear Priti Patel demand that all these individuals are chased down and imprisoned - from the booing to the defacement. For tolerance's sake these hate crimes cannot be tolerated.
X : Do you think the Gov needs to do more on social media?
Me : Be careful there. Social media is a legitimate tool of protest and communication. This Gov has shown some authoritarian tendencies especially against protest. I would look first at existing laws being applied.
However, that said, the Gov certainly needs to have shown leadership. Starmer fairly calls out Boris on this - and Lee Anderson's protest against the knee was a disgrace but then in general I find him a disgrace - mirror.co.uk/news/politics/…
This is wonderful. Hundreds of messages of support left on vandalised mural - bbc.co.uk/news/uk-englan…
Now, a mural to a living person who has done so much for the community (whether playing for England or changing this Gov's actions on meals for children) is so much more deserving of protection than some peice of marble to a long dead person with a dubious or dreadful history ...
... so I do hope that Priti Patel who has already been rightly criticised over not backing England's team for taking the knee - express.co.uk/news/politics/… - does now pursue the people who vandalised the mural.
Just as a reminder
"Disgusted to see this war memorial in Witham vandalised. This mural represents the memories of those ..."

We all agree with you that murals are important. So please make it clear that those vandals will be pursued and "re-educated".
However, do remember
... “You don’t get to stoke the fire at the beginning of the tournament by labelling our anti-racism message as ‘Gesture Politics’ & then pretend to be disgusted when the very thing we’re campaigning against, happens.” - bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politi…
X : What about those booing?
Me : They should be pursued as well. Also, Lee Anderson has a lot of questions to answer. He is already neck deep in extremist comments over Travellers - mirror.co.uk/news/politics/…
X : Wasn't he Labour?
Me : As far as I know he was warned by the party, rejected for re-standing as a councillor due to alleged sexist comments and so he then became a Tory MP - theguardian.com/politics/2019/… ... the Conservatives were apparently warned by Anna Soubry.

X : What did you think about Branson's space flight -
Me : Honestly, the dreamers bit got me. In my dreams we swap spaceflight for the few into a world where no child goes hungry. I couldn't help but think wealth tax. Leave space to the robots.
I do have bias here though, many many years ago I sat and listened to a bunch of very wealthy individuals talk about space as the solution to climate crisis i.e. them in space. So, I'm all for industrialisation of space (i.e. launchers, ground stations, control systems etc) ...
... and I do welcome the good stuff like Carbon Mapper - carbon.nasa.gov/carbon_mapper.…, the work of Planet Labs and communication satellites in space. But humans in space, space tourism? Hmmm ... I'd rather see universal basic income first.

X : What problem?
Me : Lack of transparency. Ownership should be public.
X : The blockchain is open.
Me : Not the ownership of addresses. That's shrouded in the cloak of "privacy!" but it's far more political than that. It also perpetuates the "ethics of choice".
X : Ethics of choice?
Me : Hmmm, we are all a balance between "Me" and "We". The "Me" is all about our choice, the ethics of choice. The "We" is all about our duty to others, the ethics of care ...
... the ethics of choice like any system takes actions to perpetuate itself. Take philanthropy, it's all about financially powerful individuals making choices over who receives help but it requires there to be financially powerful individuals ...

X : Did you hear Boris say Bobby Moore scored a hatrick in 1966 ...
Me : Boris knows 'nuffin. Honestly, I don't give a nuts about his efforts to steal glory. Boris doesn't represent England or what is best of England, never has. Southgate and the team represent England. End of.
And regardless of what happens, they have done us proud. First major final in 55 years. The way they played, the way they conducted themselves, the taking of the knee despite little Englanders and other tossers booing ... the team are all treasures.
Of course I want England to win the match, this is the first time in my life I've seen England in a final. But it is the icing on the cake. The way this team has represented England means we've already won. We should all be proud of them,

Gosh, this is depressing. What we need to be doing is adapting i.e embracing a more remote first world not trying to push ourselves back into the past. Yes, I know that many miss their status symbols of power, the top floor offices etc ... but this is so flawed in thinking ->
In terms of messaging, in terms of lack of challenge over procurement, in terms of muddled thinking ... I struggle to think of a more hopeless chancellor since ... welll, gosh ... maybe Lawson, that seems an apt comparison.
X : What's wrong with the office?
Me : I've just finished a population study, so I can say with some confidence that the following are the next generation of company behaviours ... however ...

I always have the freedom to simply accept a poisonous or unhealthy relationship. If I want freedom from it then I need to deal with it and get rid of it.

Freedom from covid means zero covid and not putting up with covid.
"we consider any strategy that tolerates high levels of infection to be both unethical and illogical" - thelancet.com/journals/lance… ... unethical, illogical and dangerous seems to be the new motto for the Conservatives of late.
X : That's unfair.
Me : No. Cutting £20 per week or £1,000 per year from the poorest people with the greatest needs, pulling another 400,000 children below the poverty line and calling it the "right way to help people" - mirror.co.uk/news/politics/… ... that's unfair.

"the level of death proposed by Boris Johnson would be unacceptable” - theguardian.com/world/2021/jul…

... I asked back in May 2020 whether we could borrow the NZ PM for a bit - - ... is there some official way we can vote to have NZ govern the UK?
I'm thinking of a "power of attorney", a sort of temporary measure until we come to our senses?
I have many friends who have had COVID, all of which were double vaccinated with plenty of time for the immune system to adapt ... I am somewhat surprised to hear people talk about "fully vaccinated" as though that prevents you from becoming infected ... it lessens the impact.
