Henry “Enrique” Tarrio, leader of the Proud Boys, entered a guilty plea at the DC Superior Court today: 1 count of destruction of property (burning a church's BLM banner) and 1 count for attempted possession of high capacity ammunition in DC on Jan 4, two days before insurrection
Each count carries a max sentence of 180 days’ imprisonment and/or a $1K fine. Tarrio will be sentenced on Aug. 23 but in the meantime, he must continue to stay away from the District of Columbia per an earlier court order.
Tarrio, who lives in Miami, Florida, came to D.C. on 1/4 and was arrested on a warrant charging him with the Dec. 12 destruction of property offense. As LEOs searched his bag, however, they found the firearm magazines which bore Proud Boys insignia.
Tarrio told detectives he intended to transfer the magazines to a customer also present Washington, D.C.

Ahead of today's procedural vote in the Senate on infrastructure (which is expected to fail as legislation is still being hashed out), Biden will deliver remarks in Ohio @ IBEW/NECA Electrical Training Center. The focus? Union jobs & how his $4T economic plan will buoy workers.
Biden will keep up the stump for his Rescue Plan but will lean hard into infrastructure. OH received a C- on its "Infrastructure Report Card" and that's no small thing when the state's roads and bridges carry the 3rd highest freight volume in the nation. infrastructurereportcard.org/wp-content/upl…
So far, under the pandemic relief plan passed this spring, OH has received $5.5B from the feds for state relief and $4.6B for local assistance. Unemployment has dropped as well in the Buckeye state by nearly half since June (WH reports: 10.3% to the current 5.2%)
Notably, Troy Nehls is also a former cop who was reportedly fired for destroying evidence. documentcloud.org/documents/4325…
h/t to Houston Public Radio for the documentation.
Also: Buckley Carlson serves as the communications director for Rep. Jim Banks, now being considered for the ranking member spot on 1/6 committee, according to Politico. Buckley Carlson is Tucker Carlson's son. @CourthouseNews
Politico got the scoop today, reporting now that McCarthy has recently confirmed their reporting on his list of his picks for 1/6 committee. Always a h/t to the people at Politico.
I called McCarthy's office a moment ago and was told "We cannot comment at this time."
#BREAKING: @SpeakerPelosi announces the witness list for the first 1/6 select committee hearing coming up next wk.
Notably, after largely being ignored by GOP Leader McCarthy (though the men finally met 3 wks ago), Michael Fanone of Metro PD will testify. @CourthouseNews
Ofcr Michael Dunn will also testify. Dunn gave a gut-wrenching interview to NYT about 1/6; the racial slurs he endured, the trauma of defending the Capitol on the day of the attack and the emotional and mental pain that has nagged at him in the days since nytimes.com/2021/02/25/us/…
Sgt Aquilino Gonnel w/US Capitol Police, who you may recall from an appearance on CNN last month, will also testify before lawmakers next week for the public hearing. He was brutalized w/ a flagpole, had his hand lacerated & was nearly overcome by the mob cnn.com/2021/06/03/pol…
.@RepRaskin and @RepMaloney want Cyber Ninjas, the company that participated in an "audit" of Maricopa County votes to cough up answers to Congress on why it "promotes baseless conspiracy theories" and seeks to "undermine U.S. elections."
They seek, by 7/28, among other things:
The list of requests from @RepRaskin & @RepMaloney to Cyber Ninjas re: concerns over their AZ audit
A thread.
- Docs that show all individuals or groups with direct or indirect ownership, interests or control in Cyber Ninjas, including board members, shareholders and officers
They want:
- Docs showing previous clients Cyber Ninjas has provided consulting services to specific to election audits or law (Raskin notes: Cyber Ninjas is a Fla.-based cybersecurity company *not* federally backed by US Election Assistance Commission to test voting systems)
The draft legislation to federally decriminalize weed is public. There are many notable provisions here, everything from states' rights to resentencing/ expungement to public health programs to taxation + sale. I'll break it down soon for @CourthouseNews. documentcloud.org/documents/2099…
Interesting tidbit here if the bill to federally decriminalize weed were passed as is: the Bureau of Alchohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives would be rebranded as the Bureau of Alchohol, Tobacco, Cannabis, Firearms and Explosives.
Schumer-Wyden-Booker get their press conference underway soon on the bill aiming to end federal prohibition of marijuana. Report up soon for @CourthouseNews.
Biden: Being human is being imperfect, driven by appetite and ambition as much as goodness and grace. But some things should be simple and straightforward, the most important and most fundamental of those things is the right to vote and the right to vote freely.
.@JoeBiden: "You don’t call facts fake and try to bring down the American experiment just because you’re unhappy. That’s not statesmanship, that’s selfishness, that’s not democracy, that’s a denial of the right to vote. Its suppresses. It subjugates."
