Again NDP split the progressive vote across the nation. Particularly troubling is Saskatchewan. Combined there is over 50% progressives. And 40% conservative. That’s how conservatives win. Split the vote and win elections with a minority.
Every progressive stronghold has been effectively divided. BC/Territories favour NDP, but plenty of federal Liberals. Well over 50% progressive. Divided by NDP and liberal options, CPC has opportunity to win ridings with less than 30% of supporters.
Alberta predictably favours CPC. Progressives make up 36% of the electorate. If parties were smart, they’d be on the ground registering those who typically don’t vote. CPC over 50% is a mirage. Over 60% of the population does not vote conservative. It’s an untapped voter base.
But equally divided at 30% each, neither NDP or Liberals have a chance individually. Those votes need to be combined if they want to win elections.
But NDP is on a mission to smear Liberal candidates and the party. Effectively handing AB ridings to CPC because of animosity.
There’s no reason they couldn’t campaign honestly and allow the electorate to choose their vote strategically. Nope, maximized divisiveness in AB progressive politics. Ensuring CPC will win an overwhelming majority of ridings.
Manitoba is showing its heritage. Several communities are evangelical Christian & this community makes up a significant voting block in certain ridings. But the province is overwhelmingly progressive elsewhere. Split 3 ways by GPC, NDP & LPC. Ensuring easy wins for CPC minority.
Ontario is Liberal majority territory. The only province of significant population that hasn’t been spliced down the middle. But NDP and Greens are chipping away at that voter base. Radicalizing progressives with lies and fake scandal. It’s a matter of time using demagoguery.
Quebec was the first liberal voter base to be divided. Secession, corruption, secularization and radicalization have all been used to divide the biggest liberal voter base in Canada and splinter it into multiple extremist factions.
Bloc Québécois is an additional centre left party to split progressive votes. So Quebecers have 4 options besides CPC to divide their vote. Language rights further divide a nationalist ethos cultivated to divide, not unite Canadians.
And the Atlantic provinces. Home of the latest Koch and paleolibertarian funded think tank to transform the community from the kindest and certainly most reliable liberalist humanists in Canada into hate mongering libertarians.
This has been a long game strategy to turn Canadians into libertarians. Unless Canadians use some pushback, it’s a matter of time before every province succumbs to demagogic populism and ends up like Alberta.
I’m not confident LPC will win a majority. NDP has been hammering away at liberalists with smears and disinformation. Enough to split the vote again.
Partisan hacks continue to promote PR vs FPTP, though it’s been rejected by most Canadians.
There is the enduring myth that a minority government is better for progressive governance than a majority. Anyone can see how difficult opposition made the covid response.
Comments about the veracity of Singh go unheard. He’s a charismatic leader with a loyal following.
In many eyes, he can do no wrong. That’s a dangerous situation in Canadian politics. While many find glee with O’Toole’s lame duck performance as leader, it’s just theatre. He’s loading ridings with SoCon candidates.
It doesn’t matter if he is a popular leader. It matters if his SoCon base gets their candidates elected to parliament. Where they can continue to spread hate on a guaranteed platform and obstruct a progressive agenda in HOC committees.
To destroy democracy, one doesn’t need to be in power. Just have enough power to obstruct legislation as it moves through committees. That’s what a minority government does. We’ve witnessed it since 2019. Standing committees and ad hoc committees have been obstructing progress.
By combining MP efforts of NDP and CPC, LPC policy has been stalled and obstructed from royal assent.
How many understand how government and governance works? Not those who believe a minority is required to address climate change, covid, the economy or income inequality.
Yet that’s all you see on NDP Twitter. Promotion of a minority government. They don’t even try to win. Just limit the power of LPC. How is that democratic? How is that productive or progressive? It isn’t. It’s obstructionism.
The hatred NDP has fomented towards the average liberal voter, LPC and PMJT is as bad as what’s found in CPC. The entire NDP strategy is to limit LPC appeal. Not win seats for themselves. Or lead the nation.
Just to obstruct a majority.
Singh and NDP MPs barely address CPC.
If they did in the current political environment, they might actually win official opposition. But Singh isn’t after traditional power. He wants the balance of power in a minority government. He wants credit for every government decision made because he alone engineered it.
He’s already claimed credit for the last two years of LPC governance. Ridiculously, some people, too many people, believe him. He’s done nothing but smear, attack and lie. Virtue signal and mock those who don’t also perform his political theatre.
I fear Singh far more than O’Toole going into this election that’s imminent. He’s done far more damage than LPC and it’s voters are willing to admit.
The election is to stem the haemorrhaging of LPC voters to NDP demagoguery. Not because LPC holds majority support.
LPC needs to break 40% support across Canada to be in majority territory.
We are heading for another weak minority engineered by NDP and GPC left libertarians. Who are remarkably similar in rhetoric to their right libertarian counterparts chipping away at centrist moderates.
Polls tell you people’s sentiments in the moment. The only poll that matters is the election. Get smug and LPC could lose the election to a CPC or NDP minority.
That’s what this poll reveals.
Neither NDP or CPC offer coherent measurable policy options. Just virtues and vague false hope through promises they don’t intend to keep.
If it sounds too good to be true, that’s because it is. Demagogues offer instant relief from suffering. They are charlatans. Tricksters.
Progressive liberals map out the long game to recovery. Opposition is promoting quick and easy solutions and using fear and rage to attract support. But every practical human being knows change is long, hard and takes compromise and cooperation.
Fantasy utopian promises or reality. That’s what the next election will be.
Desperate and emotionally traumatized electorates typically choose the fantasy over reality.
If that weren’t true, Lotto 6/49 would have ceased to exist long ago.
Singh & NDP offer progressives the quick fix Lotto 6/49 version of progressive false hope. Utopia instantly. Like that’s possible. 🤦🏻♀️
CPC offers a right libertarian utopia. No rules, no regulations, no restrictions for the preferred dominant class (Dominionist Christians). 🤑
PMJT is imperfect. He’s made mistakes. He’s bent ethics in circumstances to benefit Canadians. He’s had a few set backs. There are valid criticisms to make.
But the extremely detailed budget with accompanying detailed plans on how to make it policy reality by far outweigh the virtues and values offered as policy by opposition.
The next election Canadians choose fantasy or reality.
Snake oil or hard work and some bitter medicine that actually cures the disease of systemic bias built into Canadian politics.
PMJT has a tough sell.
The most helpful reminder is that it’s been 154 years + of systemic inequality. It’s not going to be eradicated in one blow.
We need to dismantle systemic racism, misogyny and ignorance. And only one party has a map and directions to guide the journey to that destination. It’s an imperfect map. But it can be influenced & altered.
The opposition just promises instant arrival at the destination. They don’t bother you with details about the journey. With no plan or map to get there, just take their word for it that it can be delivered instantly by casting your vote for them.
That’s the main theme of the next federal election in Canada. Belief in magic or reality.
Now you know why Q’Anon is such a big influence in western democracies. Q’Anon promotes magical thinking, dehumanization of opposition and instant gratification.
That’s political reality in western democracies around the globe. In a nut shell. 🥜
While doing some research in Dominionist Christian Twitter, I happened upon a popular blogger, Brad Salzberg and momentarily laughed at his ridiculous articles. Then I noticed how many Dominionists like his articles and amplify them across the nation.
It’s not that I didn’t realize that blatant racist rhetoric appeals to so many Dominionist Christians, it was a surprise that one who combines egregious “Big Lie” rhetoric is openly revered as an authority on PMJT and the Liberal party.
Reading some of his articles (which one must do to assess the veracity and integrity), it becomes apparent that Mr. Salzberg is a one man campaign to malign PMJT and LPC. Yet his articles are shared widely among the devout evangelical Dominionist Christian community.
UCP has ignored the increasing violence towards women in hijabs. Cursory disapproval of these acts of violence is all UCP has offered to date.
Virtuous thoughts and prayers. Not action to reduce the escalating violence.
Until suggesting pepper spray.
In an effort to appear to be responding to calls for greater action from the Muslim community and the public, Madu writes a letter to the federal government requesting laws be removed banning pepper spray.
Again avoiding responsibility for provision of a safe community.
Is that insulting to those propagating this disinformation? Probably. But I’m sick of being insulted everyday by white “allies” who don’t know anything about identity politics, indigenous competition for acknowledgement and truth.
Insult gains attention to an important issue.
Minister Bennett has been a tireless advocate for indigenous people for 24 years. Not just since 2012.
Bennett’s advocacy has been consistent and vocalized since she was first elected to parliament in 1997. So minimizing her contribution is a flag this article is BS.
