[THREAD] 1) Astonishing and shameful information on the progress made regarding investigating the use and eliminating chemical weapons in #Syria as outlined in the latest report issued by the Director-General of the #OPCW on Friday.
2) The regime continues to obstruct investigations by denying access to committees & destroying evidence; Claiming 2 chlorine cylinders that were used in the #Douma chemical attack (April 7th 2018) got destroyed in an attack on a declared former CWPF inside a military facility.
3) The location where the Syrian regime claimed the cylinders were destroyed is 60km away from the original site where the cylinders were stored and inspected. The report also states that the regime moved the cylinders without notifying the org. despite the warning not to do so.
4) This deliberate tampering with evidence by the Assad regime is another attempt, since it captured #Douma in 2018, to hide evidence of its use of chemical weapons. It distorts & destroys evidence routinely. They arrest and intimidate any potential eyewitnesses from testifying.
5) We, White Helmets, call on the @OPCW & @UN Security Council to take quick and decisive steps toward holding the Assad regime accountable for its use of prohibited weapons. We, first responders to those chemical attacks, are aggrieved by this continual obstruction of justice.
6) The use of chemical weapons should be punished by the international community. So far there is no justice for the victims, their relatives, & our injured volunteers by such attacks. This presents no deterrence, in any form, for those who would use such weapons in the future.

"December 17, 2019, is a day engraved in my soul because I lost everything most precious in the world to me." I am Anwar Hamidi, and this is my story in which I lost my three daughters and my wife to an attack by the regime forces on our house in #Bdama in #Idlib.
"I have been a search and rescue volunteer with the #WhiteHelmets since 2014. I have saved many, many people for the love of humanity. I never imagined I could not save my own children and wife, pieces of my heart and soul."
Tasneem was 9 years old, she was the eldest, in which I saw a responsible young lady. Raneem, our middle daughter, was 6 years old - she was the smart and kind one, and our baby Haneen, only 4 years old, who was so loved and spoiled.
"Yet for all the lives we have saved, death is beating us. For every Syrian that we’ve saved, there are five that we’ve lost" .From @RaedAlSaleh3, Head of Syria's White Helmets speak to a US Senate Committee on 'Nine Years of Brutality: Assad's Campaign Against the Syrian People'
"Since Russia’s intervention in 2015, the number of internally displaced people has doubled to 8 million; the relentless aerial bombardment and use of siege to retake areas like #Aleppo and #EasternGhouta has forced millions to “evacuate” to #Idlib. Now there isnt another Idlib."
"Raising funds to alleviate the suffering does not work any better than giving painkillers to a cancer patient. How much longer will the international community pursue this strategy before concluding it doesn’t work?"
Idlib today faces a humanitarian catastrophe, perhaps the largest ever if Russia & China block the decision to deliver humanitarian aid to #Syria again. The head of the White Helmets along with 18 civil society organizations in Syria warns today during the conference in Istanbul.
.@RaedAlSaleh3 "Russia and Syrian regime committed dozens of massacres and war crimes during the year 2019, and they used a strategy of war against civilians by targeting their installations and infrastructure in order to displace them from their homes to the north of #Syria."
"Our teams documented the killing of 1,830 people, including 450 children, 333 women, while we lost 20 volunteers from our teams by the double-tab airstrikes. While our teams managed to rescue 4,990 people, including 1,146 children, 846 women from the rubble of death."
1- It would be the last few minutes of childhood as they knew it. Noor and her brother Salem, along with dad, and his aunt were bringing Gramma home from the hospital. They would get food from the market next. But the regime warplanes hit exploding their lives wide open.
2- Nour immediately lost her father Ahmed, her grandmother, and grandmother's sister, their blood splattering her face and that of her brother, while they remained in shock and horror at what had become of their world.
3- Ahmed, Amer, Jamila, Mariam, Abdel Hamid Al-Subaie, Hassan, Abdel-Khalek, Abdo, and Nasser, all of these regular people were innocent civilians, either market vendors or shoppers, all murdered for the crime of seeking food or selling in it.
1- Mohammed, a White Helmet volunteer from #KhanSheikhun center southern #Idlib, has recovered and left hospital after a deadly Russian and Regime double tap attack which took two of his teammates, Omar and Ali.
2- Mohammed has gave all he can in that empty city, and has taken on the task of feeding the hungry cats that were left alone among the rubble of the destroyed houses, after the heavy bombing campaign which displaced all civilians. The cats, however, remained.
3- “Helping these vulnerable creatures is just as important as helping humans as they are also souls created by God,” says Mohammed.
1) Heavy aerial bombardment by Assad and Russia continues on the towns and villages of rural #Idlib and #Hama in a war of genocide thats being played out in full view of a willfully blind world. #Syria
2) 18 dead, including 7 children and 6 women. 32 were wounded, mostly women and children, as a result of the continued barbaric bombardment for the 32nd day by Russian warplanes and the regime's forces.
3) Most of the casualties are from #Ariha city, after being targeted by the regime's planes, killing 11 people including 6 children and 4 women. Our teams managed to recover the bodies, rescued 20 wounded people and recovered several uninjured from under the rubble. #Syria
