#BREAKING: Queensland records 1 new local case of COVID-19 - a man in his 40s who travelled from China, quarantined, tested negative on exit and is now positive. Fully vaccinated, and immediate contacts in isolation + all negative. | @NewsTalk4BC
New exposure sites will be added to the QLD Health website in coming days for areas in Brisbane and the Gold Coast.
.@YvetteDAth confirms Townsville will open its first community vaccination centre in August, ahead of the federal government's delivery of more jabs in October.
@YvetteDAth CHO Dr Jeanette Young says the source of the infection for today's case is unknown. He had three negative tests in quarantine in Brisbane, went home to the Gold Coast on July 12. He became unwell on July 13, saw a GP, got tested and the positive result was only received yesterday
@YvetteDAth During his time in the community, the man went to multiple public venues and locations - all currently listed on QLD Health tracing website.
@YvetteDAth CHO says authorities aren't sure when the man's infectious period started because he tested negative upon leaving quarantine. He may have had another respiratory illness that shed COVID-19 after leaving hotel, but they're waiting more tests to confirm. The likely date is July 13.
@YvetteDAth Deputy Commissioner Steve Gollschewski says police still interviewing Sydney man who entered Queensland illegally with flight attendant to work out where they have been. They both may face charges of breaching public health orders.
@YvetteDAth Health Minister denies the Premier is staying in a three-bedroom hotel suite at the Westin in Brisbane - saying "there's nothing unusual" about the situation. DC Gollschewski says she's in a "modest" protected room due to her role to prevent any possible threats.
@YvetteDAth Dr Young refusing to say early if Queensland's masks restriction is set to lift by this coming Friday.

#BREAKING: Queensland records 20 new COVID-19 cases. 19 of them are overseas acquired - a bulk carrier vessel crew. The other local case is a WA traveller who arrived from the Philippines and left quarantine on July 17 | @NewsTalk4BC
@NewsTalk4BC The WA traveller became unwell and was tested on July 26 - meaning his infectious period dates back to July 22. The person had been staying at a backpackers hostel on Roma Street in Brisbane.
@NewsTalk4BC Queensland will not open border restrictions for Victoria and South Australia, despite those states lifting their own lockdown measures.
No new local cases of COVID-19 in Queensland. CHO Dr Jeanette Young says the case from yesterday (man who returned to QLD from China) has the same genomic sequence with a traveller who returned from South Africa via Doha. There are 7 people in that cluster | @NewsTalk4BC
Dr Young says she believes his infection is unlikely to have spread to anyone locally in Queensland, considering serology testing suggests the strain came from overseas & he had been in quarantine.
Deputy Commissioner Steve Gollschewski has said the @QldPolice investigation into a QantasLink flight attendant and another male has finished - they've got all the info they need for contact tracing. Updates on possible charges to come later today.
Two new cases in Queensland overnight - both in hotel quarantine. There are still 26 active cases and 20,615 tests were conducted since yesterday. @9NewsQueensland
.@AnnastaciaMP confirms genomic testing has linked six cases of the UK COVID strain: The returned UK traveller, the hotel cleaner and her partner and the father and daughter from yesterday.
Queensland Government says all six people stayed on the same hotel floor at the Grand Chancellor but not in neighbouring rooms - there is concern about the "cluster".
#BREAKING: Queensland records three new cases of COVID-19, including the partner of the Grand Chancellor Hotel cleaner and also a father and daughter in hotel quarantine. It was confirmed last night the cleaner's partner has been isolating since January 7. @9NewsQueensland
CHO Dr Jeanette Young confirms the hotel cleaner's partner became unwell on the evening of January 7. He tested negative that morning before developing "extremely mild symptoms". The two days before then present a risk for others.

- Bunnings Warehouse at Acacia Ridge on January 5 between 2pm and 2:40pm.
- Sunnybank Cellars in Sunnybank Hills between 2:05pm and 2:40pm on January 6.
