No new local cases of COVID-19 in Queensland. CHO Dr Jeanette Young says the case from yesterday (man who returned to QLD from China) has the same genomic sequence with a traveller who returned from South Africa via Doha. There are 7 people in that cluster | @NewsTalk4BC
Dr Young says she believes his infection is unlikely to have spread to anyone locally in Queensland, considering serology testing suggests the strain came from overseas & he had been in quarantine.
Deputy Commissioner Steve Gollschewski has said the @QldPolice investigation into a QantasLink flight attendant and another male has finished - they've got all the info they need for contact tracing. Updates on possible charges to come later today.
CHO says contact tracing now underway for people who were on the same floor of the Amora Hotel in Brisbane as the man who returned from China. He stayed in a room opposite the traveller from South Africa. Method of transmission (dating back to before July 15) under investigation.
To be clear: There's a suggestion the two travellers may have inadvertently opened their hotel doors at the same time (I imagine to collect food, put rubbish out, etc), which could have resulted in virus transmission.
