I've avoided making a video about our Govt's handling of the pandemic for the past year - for a couple of reasons, one being that so much is already being said about it. But with the Delta outbreak in NSW verging on being out of control...
...I wanted to help amplify some critical messages experts have been trying to communicate: eg. that #COVIDisAirborne, and the direct links between the failure of the current quarantine system and the constant outbreaks we’re seeing – such as the one gripping Sydney right now...
I realise Australia’s pandemic situation is much less shit than many other countries' - including ones where many of our non-Aussie viewers live. However our relative success so far has clearly been in spite of, rather than thanks to, our federal Government's pandemic response...
We've done ok so far thanks some of our States’ efforts – not to mention the sacrifices made by all of us, and especially frontline healthcare workers. While our federal govt's policy has been to not listen to experts until the 11th hour and then blaming everyone else...

I want to thank Dr David Berger @YouAreLobbyLud for educating me on airborne transmission - which I had little understanding of - and pointing me towards the evidence, starting with this leading study in the Lancet by @trishgreenhalgh @zeynep et al.

PS. a high point in my research was @rajah_mich shutting down the claim that there's a debate about this 14 months into the pandemic: "if you can't acknowledge [aerosol transmission] then you can't prevent it"

Govt has finally agreed to build proper facilities in Vic/QLD, but these will take time to complete.

The point I think our media could really do more to help people understand is that poor hotel quarantine is behind ongoing outbreaks & lockdowns; that Govt's failure to upgrade HQ from initial response to purpose-fit grade, isn't just one of the causes of outbreaks, but THE cause
