It's north along the coast from Barcelona on the Rodalies R1 commuter line (bottom right)
Integration of suburban rail into Spanish timetables is awful, but this site has the timetables for the Rodalies lines in the Barcelona area rodalies.gencat.cat/en/horaris/
Latest departure: 22:54, arrives Canet de Mar at 23:56
So we need to get to Barcelona Sants from Köln Hbf, and arrive latest at 22:30 or so
There are 2 solid connections
- with 2 changes (in Bruxelles-Midi and Valence)
- with 1 change (but transit across Paris)
How do we book these?
(note I don't know what date we're doing this, but am putting in 18 August)
For a comparison, RailEurope gives us the latter route, and some extra early one that makes no sense... But it is bookable here too
Unsurprisingly @OmioGlobal makes a complete mess of the routing, so gives a route with 2 changes - although it too can allow us to book
And @NS_Int can give times, but doesn't allow bookings (which is weird - does NS Int not have access to the SNCF-Renfe trains...?)
DB's international portal also can't give us prices international-bahn.de/de/ (some data it can't get from the French or SNCF-Renfe)
And @ouisncf gives prices, but massively higher than Trainline's
So the conclusion:
- get the times from DB
- book this one with @trainline_eu
- and the last bit to Canet de Mar book on the spot (because no one has integrated that properly)

Armed with my EU Digital COVID Pass, I am going on holiday on 7 August and will not be on Twitter
So here is a *complete* explainer thread about COVID passes and QR codes for travel, especially for those travelling from 🇬🇧 to 🇪🇺🇨🇭🇳🇴🇮🇸🇱🇮, before I go!
🧵
🇪🇺 Digital COVID Pass scheme (that works in 🇪🇺🇨🇭🇳🇴🇮🇸🇱🇮) is a QR code based system to demonstrate your vaccination status
The code looks like this and - importantly - it does not matter HOW you show it. On paper, on a phone, laser etched into wood - it's your call!
For those 💉💉 in 🏴🏴 and Northern Ireland there is a similar system (🏴 has not been launched yet, will be similar)
A QR code demonstrates your vaccination status - example below
But 🏴🏴 and Northern Ireland, and 🇪🇺 systems are not fully compatible
I've now checked this with @Etienne_Sheff and we can confirm that *even if* the phone language is not set to English, 🏴🏴 NHS QR codes *still* show as VALID - as they should
In other words: the problem @X_Cli_Public identifies DOES NOT impact the 🏴🏴 NHS QR code verification!
After discussions with @ruthpadel and @stevegreen39 I've run the rule over the COVID apps / vaccine certification situation for those vaccinated in 🏴 🏴 and Northern Ireland travelling to 🇮🇹
Quick 🧵
Italian residents can prove their vaccination status using the IO app
The prerequisites: letter from NHS 🏴🏴 or Northern Ireland confirming vaccination status, with QR code on it, and Corona-Warn-App latest version (2.6.1 on iOS)
Up until today's new Corona-Warn-App update, if you imported a NHS QR code into the app it just displayed it, and did not do any validation
For that you needed the *separate* CovPassCheck App (which is only in 🇩🇪 app stores - bit of a pain, but I diverge)
