The important event related to Naga Panchami is described in Chapter 24 of Varaha Purana.
The Progeny of Nagas like Ananta, Vasuki, Kambala, Karkotaka, Padma, Maha Padma, Sanka and Kulika filled the earth. #Thread
They were crooked, heinous, and violent and with their fangs, they stung people and reduced them to ashes.
This used to reduce human population and virtuous men went to abode of Lord Brahma and asked him for a solution. Then Brahma cursed the serpents as follows.
Brahma said to Serpents,
Since you are annihilating my progeny, the men, in another age, in the Swayambhu Manvantara, by curse of the mother, you will face a serious decline.
Serpents said,
O God. We were made crooked by nature by you. Our Venom, cruelty, and the use of eye as weapon were all given by you. The intensity of all that was given may be reduced. O God. Please allot us separate regions.
Brahma said,
Patala, Vitala, Sutala are the regions allotted to you. You may all have your abode there.
I ordain that you shall enjoy all pleasures till seventh Manvantara.
At the beginning of Vaivasta Manvantara you will become relations of Devas as well as of Garuda. (cnti)
Then all your progeny will be consumed by fire but for your own selves there will be no danger
The end of such serpents as is fierce & insolent will certainly occur, but not of others. You may eat &bite a person if he is destined, but also retaliate when somebody injures you.
The serpents thereafter went to nether world allotted to them. All this happened on Panchama tithi. So, this tithi is auspicious and capable of removing all sins.
If one remains austere on that day, give us all that is sour in the food they become friendly towards him.
One more thing, Snakes don't drink milk
Now I know people over here go and make the snake drink milk on Nag Panchami but the fact is that snakes don't drink the milk. Even if they do, they are not able to digest it and eventually they die.
Milk is for mammals and not reptiles. What the snake charmers do is that they don't provide food and water to snakes for a day or two before the Nag Panchami, and hence, in order to quench the thirst and hunger, snakes drink the milk and they die later.
If you truly want to worship Nag Deva (Snake god) then pour milk and offer your food to idols and not the real snakes.
Yoga Vasishta has at least three such references of multiple universes. 1. "O Rama, countless have been the universes that have come into being and that have been dissolved. In fact, even the countless universes that exist at this moment are impossible to conceive of...
...All this can immediately be realized in one’s own heart, for these universes are the creation of the desires that arise in the heart, like castles built in the air. (The story of Suka)
One thing that new seeker should not: Just reading Hindu scripture only is not enough/effective.
Learning of scripture includes three steps/aspects: Shravana, Manana, and Nididhyasana. 1/5

"The Self, my dear Maitreyi, should be realized – should be heard of, reflected on, and meditated upon; by the realization of the Self, my dear, through hearing, reflection, and meditation, all this is known."

The Pralaya, of equal length to a Kalpa, is the time period when the entire three worlds (the physical universe along with Devaloka and Asuraloka) are destroyed by fire emanating from the mouth of Vishnu's serpent Adiseshan.
Here is how it's described in the Srimad Bhagavatam:
"The devastation takes place due to the fire emanating from the mouth of [Ananta], and thus great sages like Bhṛgu and other inhabitants of Maharloka transport themselves to Janaloka....
the world Will Not actually get destroyed at the end of the Kali Yuga.
Rather, what's going to occur is that when the evil and decadence of the Kali Yuga reaches its zenith, Vishnu will have an avatar as Kalki the horse rider.
"Lord Kalki will appear in the home of the most eminent brāhmaṇa of Śambhala village, the great soul Viṣṇuyaśā. Lord Kalki, the Lord of the universe, will mount His swift horse Devadatta and, sword in hand,
...travel over the earth exhibiting His eight mystic opulences and eight special qualities of Godhead.
Displaying His unequaled effulgence and riding with great speed, He will kill by the millions those thieves who have dared dress as kings. +
At any point of time Original sanskrit slokas are 'authentic' Gita. The first authentic commentary was written by Sri Adi Sankaracharya, which is the bhashya that establishes the Advaita philosophy.
He made commentary of the 700 slokas of Gita out of 745 slokas. All the later Acharyas like Sri Ramanuja, Sri Madhva etc wrote commentaries only of these very 700 slokas chosen by Sri Adi Sankara.
The purpose of each was to establish one's own philosophy by explaining Gita. They wrote the bhashyas in sanskrit, analysing the slokas word by word and going to the very depth of each word.
Sanskrit is a very rich language & each word can be interpreted in many different ways.
