There's @jaycodon on media, @KatColeATL on management, @web on commerce, @mrsharma on DTC, and many more.

That's why @MorningBrew wants to partner w/ operators

2/ There are lots of doers out there that are both experts and want to write.

But building a newsletter is a lot of work. Not only do you have to write, but you have to run a business too.

So, paralysis sets in, and people just don't launch.
3/ @MorningBrew is launching a new initiative where we partner with these experts to create sub-verticals.

For example, under Marketing Brew, we could do one about social media written by an expert. Or Retail Brew could have one written by a DTC expert.

Paid subscriptions are overrated.

As more tools are created to help creators monetize, we’ll find that putting your best content behind a paywall is almost always suboptimal.
To be clear, subscriptions are a great business model.

But, putting your best/most shareable content behind a paywall crushes your top of funnel.

Will some succeed doing this? Yes, 100%. Especially if your content is inflammatory/controversial (check out the 10 on substack)
If you look at things from a purely financial perspective, free top of funnel + any number of other monetization methods will result in more revenue for 99% of people.

1/ Every company should think about hiring globally.

The last year has forced us all into an unanticipated experiment around remote work. I was a huge remote skeptic pre-COVID.

However, it's worked out much better than expected.
2/ Ever since COVID, I have been fascinated by global work forces

Finding talent is hard. Expanding your talent pool to a global one is a huge competitive advantage.

And, your competitors are already doing it

42% of new startups are headquartering their companies in the cloud
3/ However, hiring a global workforce is REALLY hard

Employing abroad can require setting up local subsidiaries, bank accounts, HR, legal, accounting, and payroll in each country

This is expensive. Setting up just one country can take up to 18 months and costs upwards of $100K
