Sorry. But personal choice like commuting via plane or living in a too big house (or 2!), requiring too much energy for heating/cooling, resources for furnishing, and too much space & roads - do you believe in magic changing this to sustainably fit into planetary boundaries?

Biodiversity and climate are interlinked. Resource- and space intensive lives must change. The time of low hanging fruit or finger pointing at xyz is long over when rain falls on Greenland's summit.

Again, who does it help when people simply continue BAU instead of seriously analysing their own choices?

It sustains the related industries, ofc. Bc all choices ultimately sustain related industries. Be it fossil, car or construction industry, their interest in BAU is huge.$$

If I were a sociopathic BigFossil CEO, I'd be glad that again & again, journalists tell their readers that evil industries "invented" personal responsibility and that, magically, somehow, nothing has to change in their own lives if they only talk long enough about evil sociopaths

As long as there is someone structurally more evil than yourself you get to do evil things and not be responsible for the consequences?

Everyone needs analysis of how their personal lives, their personal choices are contributing to the failed system.

20yrs ago, finger pointing to evil industries would have eventually and TIMELY led to easing people incrementally into sustainable lifestyles. Mind you, lives without commuting by plane, and without big houses and armies of appliances.
Today, the truth is: incrementalism is over

I must assume that, today, every journalists who keeps repeating "Ecological footprint was invented by BigFF" is in denial of the state of the emergency & quietly hopes, their own lives don't need to change if they keep pointing @ someone else who committed crimes against mankind

That'd be like Germans shirking historical responsibility for never allowing a repeat of the Shoa 1933-45: because it was Hitler who did evil, no person today has the responsibility to stand up against racism?
