Manitoba is requiring provincial employees who work with vulnerable people to be vaccinated or face testing up to three times a week. #COVID19
The following professions are affected:
• Direct health-care providers and workers, including (but not limited to) doctors, nurses, allied health professionals, support staff, some others in public and private health-care settings ...
... and direct care providers, defined as anyone who may come in contact with patients, residents or clients or their care environments, equipment, blood and body fluids.
• Education workers including teachers, school and educational support staff, practicum students, bus drivers and custodians.
• Child-care workers, including staff and practicum students working in licensed early learning and child-care facilitiesctional facilities.
• Public servants and funded-agency employees who work in in high-risk settings with direct, ongoing contact with the public or clients ...
This may mean people who work in congregate or residential settings or group homes, or work with vulnerable populations including children ...
... or have to enter the home of a client ...
... or who regularly visit sites with vaccine mandates in place as part of their duties.
• Manitoba Justice employees who work with vulnerable people and in corrections facilities.
These workers must be fully vaccinated by Oct. 31 or submit to regular testing.
As well, the mask mandate is coming back to indoor public settings, including schools.
Also, the province will expand more the list of places, events and services that will require people attending to be fully immunized.
The premier says Roussin will have more to say about that later this week.
All of this is due to threat posed by the fourth wave, primarily to unvaccinated people.
We'll see delta modelling this afternoon from Dr. Atwal.
Pallister says the modelling is stark.

This couple did everything right: They brought a GPS beacon on their trip and used it when their canoe was damaged. cbc.ca/news/canada/ma…
Compare and contrast to the Germans who got into trouble on the same river five years ago:
They paddled in a boat that could not survive the Hayes River.
They did not take a GPS beacon or satellite phone along.
There are “purists” who claim those devices spoil the wilderness experience.
That is nonsense.
If you’re going somewhere where you know you could not extract yourself if your gear fails or you become injured, then you take a communications device.
