During the robbery attempt, watchman Om Bahadur was killed and as per the chargesheet, the accused stole only 10 wrist watches & a crystal rhinoceros doll from the estate
Subsequent to the heist-cum-murder at #Kodanadu, the main accused Kanakaraj died in an accident 4 days after the crime
Similarly, another accused Sayan's car met with an accident. He lost his wife & child.
Later, the computer operator at the estate died by alleged suicide.
Considering the crime took place at a former CM's bunglow and with all these murky twists in the case, one would imagine that TN police would do a through investigation to bring out the truth.
I took a closer look at the case documents & it reveals some shocking details.
A murder-cum-heist took place at former CM's residence between 12 am- 2am and the Inspector from Kotagiri police station arrives at the spot 7.5 HOURS later!!
The IO says he got the info regarding the incident only at 7.30 am.
During the cross examination, the IO says they did not obtain the signature of complainant Krishna Thaba who is also the security guard at the Kodanadu Estate not because he had injuries in his right hand, but they FORGOT to take his signature on the FIR
Were CCTV cameras installed at the ex-CM's Kodanadu Estate?
The IO says he found there were no CCTV cameras in the estate during his investigation!!
This is a security sensitive location where a ex CM stayed and the IO says they were no CCTVs
Defense lawyer: Isn't it the responsibility of the police officer to visit the place where a person is lying dead?
IO: Gate No 8 was closer, so I decided to visit it first then went to examine Gate no 10 area where Om Bahadur was killed. It was 11.30 am when I visited Gt No 10
The IO in his deposition says they examined the hall area of the bungalow & on the first-floor, locks to the 2 rooms were broke open.
During cross examination, IO admits that he did not click pictures of the 2 rooms on the 1st floor which were broke open despite examining them
No (Mahasar/ Spot map) record was created regarding the hall area or 2 rooms on the first floor which were broke open
No forensic evidence was collected from the hall and the 2 rooms.
One room belong to Ex-CM Jayalalithaa & another room belongs to Sasikala
Defense Lawyer – Did the CM's room have any valuable items?
IO – I have no knowledge about that and when I examined the showcase,I found another crystal rhinoceros piece. Totally there were 2 crystal pieces, and one was stolen.
The police did not reach out to the owners of #Kodanadu estates.
DL – Did Kodanadu Estate manager provide you details of things that went missing from the estate during your investigation?
IO – No
DL – Did you prepare an inventory of the things that were there?
IO - No
During the cross-examination, the IO confirms that the Accused No 1 Kanakaraj, who was the former driver of CM J Jayalalithaa, belongs to Edappadi Taluk.
The IO says he does not know whether EPS & Kanakaraj belong to the same area.
When asked by the lawyer if the ‘political angle’ or motive was investigated, the IO says he did investigate the political angle.
When asked specifically the IO says he investigated the ‘political angle’ in general and not in particular.
How did the cops investigate the accident of Kanagaraj and Sayan:
DL – The death of one of the accused Kanakaraj, has raised many doubts in this case?
IO– I don’t know anything regarding this
DL– Did you enquire about A1 accused Sayan meeting with an accident?
IO– No
After going through hundreds of case file documents, it's clear that there are many glaring loopholes and lapses in police investigations.
This raises a lot of questions. Most importantly, why was the probe in such a sensitive case conducted in a shoddy manner?
BIG QUESTIONS:
FORMER CM'S RESIDENCE CUM MINI SECRETARIAT WAS ROBBED, WHY WAS IT NOT TRANSFERRED TO A SPECIALISED UNIT LIKE CBCID?
WHY WAS NO SENIOR OFFICER ASSIGNED TO SUPERVISE THE PROBE OF THIS HIGH-PROFILE CASE?
WHY NONE OF THE SENIOR POLICE OFFICERS VISITED THE SPOT?

She was the youngest member of our bureau. Always cheerful and full of life. For every situation she would have a film scene reference and all our conversations turned out to be such fun. She was curious, talented, opinionated and had a flair for writing.
In Aug 2022, days before her theatre performance, she met with an accident. We were taking her to a hospital and she was only worried about her performance. Such was her dedication.
I’m sure she had big plans for 2023. But life is just so cruel and fragile.
She left office on Wednesday saying she is feeling uneasy. She later msgd saying she had 105 fever. On Thursday, she informed me that she tested +ve for Dengue & typhoid.
She informed me that she would work from home from Monday and also told me that she would get well soon.
Government and private hospitals in Chennai are overwhelmed. This is not to spread panic, but people in Chennai need to realise the seriousness of the situation and understand what we are up against.
Below are visuals from 3 major govt hospitals in the city.

Rajiv Gandhi Govt General Hospital: Patients are given oxygen in ambulance even as they wait for admission & allotment of beds.
Just 3 major incidents relating to law and order in the last 10 years of AIADMK govt, says a political analyst. Really? How about refreshing our memory?
First, how crime statistics are managed in #TamilNadu:
Under pressure, Agriculture Dept Engineer commits suicide. His family was hounded by the local govt machinery and party men. They had to lock their house and leave their hometown. The then Minister was behind all this 👇
UPDATE: Aadhar data used for targeted campaigning of voters by #BJP in #Puducherry. Petitioner is Anand DYFI president, respondent 2 is ECI & 6 is BJP.
This is the status report submitted by the Election Commission of India in the Madras High Court on allegations that #BJP had access to private data linked with Aadhar in Puducherry.
There seems to be some kind of #Corona competition going on in #Madurai between 2 ministers. At a time when PM, Union Ministers & State CMs are avoiding public appearances, looks like these TN Ministers can’t live without facing cameras 1/6
#Madurai reporters are already fed up & now scared to cover the events organised by these ministers where social distancing norms are blatantly flouted. Look at this report by @NairShilpa1308 to see how "well" these events are organised 👇🏽2/6
According to sources in #Madurai, there is a competition between Ministers Sellur Raju & RB Udaykumar to organise events & get media coverage. If RBU has an event in the morning then SR will hold one event in the evening or the next morning. 3/6
