A few semi-related #COVID19 thoughts:

1. The virus isn't going anywhere any time soon

2. We will all be exposed at some point, maybe not today or this month, but in the next year or two

3. Must continue to⬆️the # of people with antibodies (from vaccination) prior to exposure👇

4. The pandemic is not over, even in countries with +++ vaccine access. Mitigation efforts are still needed to protect the vulnerable & unvaccinated (eg ineligible, those with barriers, etc) & to prevent overwhelming the healthcare system.

(The pandemic will end, just not yet)👇

5. We may need boosters at some point. Some (e.g. immunocompromised, etc) need these now. But we *ALL* don't need these now & should be supporting global vaccine efforts (COVAX).

6. Why not get a booster tailored to the "variant du jour" later on, when you actually need one?👇

7. Love 'em or hate 'em, vaccine certificates are coming. Central (provincial & federal) coordination is a must. Why not have standardized Canadian documentation?

8. Vaccine certificates can help create safer indoor spaces but are far from perfect. Need more honest comms here.

9. "Breakthrough" infections are expected. We knew this long before Delta. Vaccines can reduce infection, but they mostly serve to prevent severe illness & death (& reduce risk of transmission).

10. Don't rush the pediatric vaccines. Safety is key. Let the trials finish.

11. Why the hell isn't rapid testing more widely implemented in Canada? (Nova Scotia, please ignore this). Ahem, bit.ly/3sVq56l

12. Please be kind to your friendly neighbourhood healthcare provider. They're probably tired. And burned out. And still chugging along.

13. We're all sick of this. Watching cases rise is frustrating. We know how to control the virus. Pull the levers that need to be pulled so Fall/Winter isn't a mess.

14. Despite rising cases, >80% of eligible Canadians have at least a 1st vax. That is incredible & is helping.
