If your child is attending a school with insufficient aerosol mitigations, here is a brief letter you can use to withdraw consent for certain activities. Copy freely!
As COVID-19 transmission is primarily airborne (it moves like smoke, lingers even after someone has left a room, accumulates in a room if your have many ‘smokers’),

there are many aspects of the current COVID-19 safety plan that engineers, aerosol scientists, and, indeed, many, many physicians, including infectious disease specialists across Canada and around the world, say are wholly inadequate.

Given this, [plus our own extra risk ...], I must withhold consent for my child to participate in the following activities:
[list continues in next tweet. I am not practising engineer anymore, just one with a degree! Use your own judgement / seek add'l advice]
7/ letter cont'd
Indoor physical education;
Any group activity in the gymnasium (assemblies, etc);
Indoor eating – please allow the children to eat their recess snacks outside. If they cannot eat lunch outside, I will sign them out to come and eat at the car with me;
8/ letter cont'd
Music / singing – they may only participate outdoors, or in [safe space if you have one] with all doors and windows open, AND all singers / musicians masked;
Be in ANY room with a person who is not complying with the indoor mask mandate;
9/ letter cont'd
Furthermore, my child will wear their masks outdoors unless physically distanced. My child understands the basics of the aerosol science, and is very good at understanding what is safe when.

I have provided Jane with a CO2 monitor. When we breathe out, we breathe out CO2. The more people breathing in an enclosed space, the higher the CO2 climbs. So, it’s a very good proxy measure of ventilation performance.

Please feel free to leverage this for in-class science! At 800 ppm for more than 15 minutes, changes should be made (open windows wider, open door).
[Side note: If it's elevated too long, my kids will play sick and call me for pick-up. We practiced.]

I apologize for any inconvenience this might cause, and thank you for your understanding. Please call me at 123-456-7891 or email me at awesomeparent@gmail.com if you have any questions.
[almost done 😁]

Please stay safe and thank you for all you do under difficult circumstances to keep the children safe.
EPIDEMIC: unexpected increase in number of disease cases in a specific geographical area.
Notably, an epidemic disease doesn't necessarily have to be contagious. For example, West Nile fever and the rapid increase in obesity rates are also considered epidemics

.@WHO declares PANDEMIC when disease’s growth is exponential. Each day cases grow more than day prior.
Has nothing to do with virology, population immunity, or disease severity. It means a virus covers a wide area, affecting several countries and populations.
"COVID-19, in ~ 1 year, killed twice as many children as influenza does most years, and hundreds more in the same interval of time, despite painstaking efforts to prevent infection. This easily makes COVID-19 a leading cause of death in children." medpagetoday.com/opinion/second…
"All estimates [for pediatric hospitalizations] far exceed the number of hospitalizations during the pre-vaccine period for several vaccine-preventable diseases on the childhood vaccination schedule."
Even if we allow the sketchy hair-splitting of with vs of #COVID19.
Don't forget MIS-C when considering not protecting kids from #COVID19.
