In the last several weeks, networks of NGOs, private citizens, & veterans have worked with Congressional offices to try to evacuate Americans & Afghans who worked with us from Afghanistan.

A Houston family was visiting relatives in Afghanistan when the Taliban seized Kabul. One of the family members was well known to the Taliban for the support provided to the United States, and as a result the entire family was in danger. They are now safely out of Afghanistan.
Another family had to overcome Taliban checkpoints, a firefight, and a stampede. In desperate need of medical attention, these Americans finally made it past the Taliban and into the airport and safety.
A third family got held up by the Taliban on the way to the airport. When someone tried to run through the checkpoint, the Taliban began firing. One of the family members was trampled. Thankfully, the family finally made it out of Afghanistan and back to Texas.
We’re grateful to be able to tell these stories, but there are still Americans and Afghan partners trapped in Afghanistan. We will continue to work around the clock to help all of them reach safety.
