Everyone wants them to be your number one priority

But they keep you on standby, sometimes last priority

Why so? are people so mean and selfish?

No, they are not

this behaviour is part of our evolution process,

little before industrial revolution and if u go to stone age then all the more clear,

human beings were struggling for resources, food shelter etc,

plus only goal of the species is to maintain best gene pool,

that requires us to constantly look for best possible mate, and dominate the situation at all times

This is hard wired in our brain, just the way hunger for food is hard wired

So we want resourceful people to give attention to us, make us their number one priority,

they might give food, shelter or help in mate selection when THE tough time comes,

So us being someone's last priority is natural and nothing personal against us

Here is the twist

After industrial revolution, food and shelter is not a problem,

with wider connectivity, even selecting from garden variety of mates is not a problem

But this modern age has made one thing scarce, which almost no one has

Yes, time, energy and biggest of all attention

Our attention span as per tik-tok is just less than 30 seconds

Even when we are talking to someone, we are browsing on phone, we are not paying attention

On the filp side, everyone is craving for attention like never before

So no one has it and everyone craves for it

If you provide your time, energy and undivided attention to someone,

you will climb up pretty fast in their attention hierarchy

At times you might never reach at the top, too bad

But then, that's life, slightly cruel at all times :)
