June 7, 2020, @bluevirginia reported “ZERO African Americans” admitted to TJ. Tell that to @HarryJ4Justice whose son, who is black, was admitted. Washington Post reporter @hannah_natanson repeated the lie, days later. When I corrected her, she tweeted a “clarification.”
The very day of the @bluevirginia big lie, TJ principal Ann Bonitatibus, who is white, sent TJ’s mostly minority immigrant parents + students an offensive “call to action” to check their “privileges,” consider nixing the Colonial mascot and, oh, set RACE GOALS for admissions
I filed a FOIA and hundreds of pages of emails revealed that the principal started working with activists to change TJ admissions, amidst outrage over the big lie. “The iron is hot,” a teacher wrote to the principal. “Here! Here!” She responded.
The principal couldn’t do this alone. In June 2020, VA Ed Secretary Atif Qarni launched a secretive task force to gut TJ admissions. By Sept 2020, @bluevirginia trumpeted Qarni’s “changes” to TJ to “increase diversity.” Who had elevated Qarni in politics in 2013? @TerryMcAuliffe
Asians are 20% of Fairfax County + paying CLOSE attention to @GlennYoungkin + @TerryMcAuliffe. For a year @bluevirginia has smeared “anti-admissions policy change people,” as pilloried by an NAACP official at a @FairfaxDems “Let them die!” rally. But we live + fight! #court ⚖️
