Shree Naina Devi Ji, the Kuldevi of millions of Hindus throughout the globe. The mandir is located on the top of a hill at an altitude of about 1200 meters. It was built by King Bir Chand of the Chandel dynasty in the 8th century.
Pouranik story is related to Yagna of Daksha Prajapati, Father of Devi Sati. Bhagavan Shiva was not invited by king Daksha Prajapati in that Yagna. Sati felt insulted, and she burnt herself alive in Yagna Kund, after this incident Shiva became extremely distressed.
Shiva picked the burning corpse of Devi Sati on his shoulder and started Taandava. This horrified all deities as taandava of Shiva can lead to the destruction of the universe i.e. Mahapralaya. So, they requested Bhagavan Vishnu to stop Shiva.

Kathgarh Shiva Temple:
Dedicated to Bhagvan Shiva and Maa Parvati. Here large Shivalingam is divided vertically in two parts. Bigger portion is worshiped as Shiva and the smaller as Parvati. Distance between two parts keeps increasing/decreasing as per changing seasons.
According to “Shiv Purana” there was a battle between Vishnu and Brahama for supremacy. They were about to use “Pashupat” which would have brought ruin and destruction all around. So Shiva appeared as a fire pillar between the two to stop them. @hathyogi31
After that Both stopped and wanted know as to what this fire pillar is? Vishnu went to inquire the bottom and Brahma flew into the sky to have a look at the top of this fire pillar. Vishnu came back without reaching the farthest point of the pillar in the ground. @i__Mystic
