Some people have this experience and do exactly as I and @Wraithan do; “dang I wish I had the compiler to help me here, now I gotta do all this work”

I suspect a lot of discussions around things like “productivity” are conflated with things like “have existing experience with tests/types” and “prefers runtime/compile time errors” and various other things
I do not know how to rectify these perspectives. Which is why I tend to push back gently, not but too hard, on the “dynamic typing is more productive/good for prototyping” memes. I think it’s true for some but not all
I wish we had better ways to study this than “hey 15 kids from CS202 signed up to write some code for 45 minutes and here’s what we found.”
