I am not asking you to imagine how you feel had you "let it rip" or "let the bodies pile high"

I am not asking you to imagine how you feel if you were a minister or MP who had allowed their PM to "let it rip" or let the bodies pile high"

I have a different question for you to imagine

No its not imagine how desperate the UK is for a trade deal with India that it not only ALLOWED but ENCOURAGED weak border restrictions from India allowing the delta variant to get viable, easy access to the UK

Because it is the Friday before Monday the 19th of July 2021

On Monday imagine you had scheduled a VC Day celebration (Victory over Coronavirus) "by summoning the spirit of Churchill with appropriately stirring rhetoric” at “an historic venue associated with the wartime leader”

A day where you were going to let the bells of freedom ring

So this was the state of Public Health England on Friday the 16th of July 2021

So my question is a simple one

You look at the data

Of current infections, current hospitalisations and current deaths

And you have to make a decision

Do you proceed with "celebrating" VC day?

What is an acceptable number of infections?

What is an acceptable number of isolations resulting from infections?

What is an acceptable number of hospitalisations?

What is an acceptable number of deaths?

And I would give you one simple reminder

Now I am quite happy that a government makes a decision on whether to proceed with "Operation Freedom"

But I would prefer that they be capable of honestly answering questions on what information they made that decision

Back to my imagination scenario

I have a larger imagination scenario that we will come to at the last also

It is now 24th September 2021

This was the headline from yesterday

A government are doing ALL they can to avoid it being prominent

182 more deaths

So for each of those 36,710 people

They will now be isolating

They may be in hospital

They may suffer long covid

They may give covid a new host opportunity to develop a variant

For each of those 182 dead

They leave behind friends, family and a community who will mourn their loss

And it is on them I want to focus

So 182

So to many

That will be an acceptable number

My question is simple

What number is unacceptable in terms of daily deaths?

Are we talking about

Is that an acceptable price worth paying?

What if your child

1) catches covid?

2) has school physical attendance disrupted by covid ripping through schools

3) passes it to you?

4) passes it to a vulnerable family member or friend?

5) is hospitalised?

6) suffers long covid?

Simple question really

What is an unacceptable price of "freedom"?
