The Lancet, how you gonna play like you care that female bodies and female biology have been excluded from medicine and science WHEN YOU WONT NAME THEM?
Thankfully, some of us actually can recognise, name and discuss medical misogyny, and will continue to do so.
2
Women are being given medications that have only been tested on men. This is because female hormones & menstrual cycles have always been seen as variables that need to be eliminated or controlled instead of included/explored in the way medicine metabolises & acts in the body.
3
Women naturally have more fat, so medications which metabolise differently in fat/water in the body act differently on men and women. But nah fuck it, just test it on men.
4
Women’s bodies have always been seen as ‘defective versions of men’ since Ancient Greek philosophy.
The existence of a clitoris and the anatomy of it was ignored and denied by medical science until the fucking 21st century.
5
Doctors believed women were hysterical, and that their uterus would detach and float around their body attacking the brain and other organs which caused women to be ‘crazy’ (wandering womb syndrome) until 1950… 19-fucking-50
6
Doctors believed that the way to get a woman to behave more ‘ladylike’ was to force her to have sex with, or marry a man up to 1960s. Some even advocated forcing women to bear children as a ‘treatment’ for trauma.
7
It takes over 8 years to get a doctor to believe you have endometriosis & send you for basic tests
Women are more likely to have their cancer picked up at stage 3/4 because when they raise it with doctors, they will be told it’s stress or that they should stop googling…
8
Finally, studies in UK in 2018 found that women with cardiac symptoms will be left 2-4 hours longer than men in A&E because doctors assume that women exaggerate their pain on the pain scales. This meant they would be left in agony for longer.
9
Due to this, women are much more likely than men to be sent home or away from doctors whilst having heart attacks, and are more likely to die within 6 months of complaining to a doctor of cardiac issues.

If you are now going to suddenly pretend that you care about medical misogyny then stand up for us and stick yer neck out. For once.
I don’t know why this is controversial but when I managed rape centres and victims services I would absolutely change the therapist if the woman didn’t want them, triggered by them, couldn’t relate to them, wanted someone else…
It’s HER journey, not ours.
It’s not about US.
I would always tell my staff that it wasn’t about them, not to take it personally, and that they needed to move aside to ensure the woman or girl got the best support.
Women requesting specific therapists: sexes, ethnicities, languages, backgrounds, accents, demeanour is common
It’s such a sorry state of affairs that therapists and managers are putting themselves, their needs and their validation above what a traumatised child or adult needs in that moment. These stories, they don’t belong to us, we don’t get to dictate what they need in their trauma.
Someone in my town was sent this today cos they bought a caravan!
It reminded me that my old neighbour used to come out & ask me how I afforded the weekly shop, and told me he had reported me to the social, told me I was fiddling the system, asked me how I afforded my car etc.
I moved away from there in 2019, but for 9 years he asked me how I afforded everything from shopping to my car. I kept telling him that I worked full time but he didn’t believe me. One time he came out and waved the Daily Mail in face and told me that scum like me rinse tax payer
My neighbour did actually report me over and over but I was working, so I used to just get occasional letters saying they wouldn’t be investigating further lmao
He used to watch me unload the car with shopping and kids and tell me I was a fraud lol
I very much doubt that this 3 year old was having some sort of deep identity crisis about the debate around sex and gender.
This is a child self-mutilating because there is something happening to them and they are in severe distress.
This is actually quite common.
You are not a bad professional, social worker, psychologist or therapist for recognising classic signs of sexual trauma in children. It doesn’t make you bigoted or harmful.
Loads of us have worked in abuse cases where children have done this, and it’s vital we pay attention
I’m shocked that this sham trial is going ahead when women are faced with actual hate crimes on this platform every day & no one can get the police to do a damn thing about rape & death threats, doxxing, harassment or stalking.
Thank you so much to all of the women who have been there today and travelled from all over the UK to support Marion. This trial is performative AF and we all know it. I hope she finds there is no case to answer, but this abuse and harassment of women has to end.
The CPS is on its arse, can’t even prosecute rapists properly. We provide them with reams of threats and abusive messages and it’s all ‘we can’t prove who is behind the account’ and ‘you can’t prove they actually tweeted that though’ - but prosecuting women seems a doddle
It’s clear that lesbians, the concept of same sex attraction, the description of lesbians, and the word ‘lesbian’, is silently being removed from publications, articles, events and social media.
Young women don’t even dare call themselves a lesbian.
This is terrifying.
Someone contacted me yday to say that the word ‘lesbian’ is offensive because it’s exclusionary and I genuinely don’t have the energy to deal with how fucking homophobic that is, and why this argument is never slung at gay men who love men.
Someone else told me that young women don’t want to ID as a ‘lesbian’ because they don’t want to be perceived as offensive or bigoted, even when they are only attracted to females.
They’re so worried they’ll be attacked and abused for being same sex attracted.
Absolutely gutted to read through the entire @BritLGBTAwards nominees to see that they have not used the word ‘lesbian’ once, even to describe the lesbian nominees.
Gay, queer, trans, fluid and bi are all used, but the word ‘lesbian’ is completely omitted.
Why is this?
I was really interested to find their Instagram account and was enjoying looking through the profiles of all the nominees and their top 10 lists, until I noticed that even ‘out’ lesbians were not being described as lesbians.
I decided to work through the whole account
Where there are lesbian nominees, they omit the detail completely - and instead vaguely discuss ‘their sexuality’. The gay men are described as gay men, or bi men, or trans etc.
How can you claim to be championing LGBT rights and visibility if you won’t say LESBIAN?
