#BREAKING: Green Party Leader Annamie Paul makes it official, she says she contacted the federal council to begin process for her resignation. It comes just under a year after taking on the role. #cdnpoli
Paul says day of election & couple days after, says couple of things happened that made her think what she wanted to happen next. Says day of election she received email from council, from president of council calling for emergency meeting to launch leadership review #cdnpoli
She says on Saturday night, there was announcement sent to all members including herself announcing a leadership review had been launched. #cdnpoli
Paul says when she received those emails/announcements, she asked herself "whether this is something that I wanted to continue, whether I was willing to continue to put up with the attacks I knew would be coming" #cdnpoli
"Whether to continue to have to fight and struggle just to fulfill my democratically-elected role as leader of this party, and I just don't have the heart for it," Paul says #cdnpoli
Paul says when you head into election w/o funding for campaign, head into election w/o staff for your campaign, head into election w/o national campaign manager, of "being under the threat of a court process from your party" will be hard to convince ppl to vote for party #cdnpoli
She says in terms of still going ahead, says was a "tremendous struggle to decide to continue, I knew that we were not likely going to do well, and I knew as the leader even without those tools that I needed the first person that the public would look at would be me." #cdnpoli
Paul says she chose to continue because of some of the people standing there today. The "extraordinary members of the Green Party who didn't do anything to deserve this and deserve to have the opportunity for a good election." #cdnpoli
Paul goes on: "The candidates and volunteers again who deserve to have a leader going into the election and deserve to at least have an opportunity to be represented." Says some candidates were those she recruited through Time to Run program #cdnpoli
Paul also says she felt responsibility to show "that someone like me could get far as I could." #cdnpoli
Says when she talked in debate about "crawling over that glass," says people need to realize is "when I was elected and put in this role, I was breaking a glass ceiling." #cdnpoli
"What I didn't realize at the time is that I was breaking a glass ceiling that was going to fall on my head and leave a lot of shards of glass that I was going to have to crawl over throughout my time as a leader." - Annamie Paul #cdnpoli
She says when she arrived at debate stage, "I had crawled over that glass, I was spitting up blood, but I was determined to be there." #cdnpoli
"I was determined to be there so that the next tiem someone like me thinks of running & wonders whether it's possible to be on that stage, they will know that it is possible to do that," Paul says #cdnpoli
Paul says she doesn't have regrets going through election, but says she will not have opportunity to lead, hasn't been given that opportunity, and won't be given that opportunity. Says won't spend any more time focused on political games & not policy. #cdnpoli
Paul says to people asking her to continue, to know it has not been easy, "this has been extremely painful, it has been the worst period in my life in many respects, but I am not alone and you are not alone" #cdnpoli
Paul also says she will continue to serve and find other ways to serve outside of being Green Party leader. #cdnpoli
Paul says there "is a struggle that's going on for the soul of the party." #cdnpoli
Paul also goes after Green Party members she claims have been "calling for organization against me," says "you may take small comfort in this for a moment but please know that there are many more people like me than there are you and you will not succeed in the end." #cdnpoli
The above should say "time" but typos happen I suppose when typing fast.

Kevin Vuong, who is the MP-elect for Spadina-Fort York following the recent federal election, confirms he'll stay on as an Independent MP. This comes amid calls from politicians and residents in the riding for him to step down. #cdnpoli #elxn44
Vuong originally ran as a Liberal, but after reports of a dropped sexual assault charge came to light, the party said he would no longer be affiliated with them and if elected would not be part of the Liberals' caucus. #cdnpoli #elxn44
Due to the timing of him being dropped by the party, he remained on the ballot under the Liberal banner, which also occurred almost a week after many advanced votes (and possibly some mail-in votes as well) had been made. #cdnpoli #elxn44

Gov. Mike DeWine speaking now. Says some in the crowd of the prayer vigil on Sunday night were angry, "they should be angry." Says some chanted "do something, and they were absolutely right."
DeWine announces initiatives: 1. Safety protection orders - allow people to get help for those who may be a danger to themselves or others, he says these include people with mental health challenges, alcohol or drug problems, violent tendencies "and have access to firearms"
He says authorities must be able to activate the criminal justice system when they find someone who's in danger, who's a danger to themselves or danger to others and have access to a gun.
