NATIONAL HEALTH ID

Everyone is talking about the National Health ID, with concerns surrounding the need for a universal ID, privacy etc.

Let's delve into some details about this project, benefits and working.

(Already generated the IDs for my family.)

What is the National Digital Health ID?

➡️ Part of Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission

➡️ Digital health ID like your Aadhar Card.

➡️ Unique 14-digit number.

➡️ Can be used for identification and sharing of an individual's personal health records with healthcare providers.
STAKEHOLDERS

This project is centred around the citizens/patients with operational facilities for the Central and State Govts, Hospitals (Govt and Pvt), Doctors, Labs, Insurance companies and more.
Why Digital Health ID?

➡️ Personal Health Records - one stop digital storage for all personal health data.

➡️ Easily accessible to both patient and healthcare providers only with prior informed consent of patient.

➡️ Allows healthcare providers to make more informed decisions.
FEATURES

➡️ Multiple Health IDs - user can create multiple IDs to store different health data (user controls what health data to share with docs/hospitals)

➡️ Consent Pin - Health records can be shared across the platform only after user enters a 4-digit pin set by themselves.
➡️ User can opt out of the Digital ID and deactivate or delete their Health ID, and remove all demographic and identification details from the database.
HEALTH FACILITY REGISTRY

➡️ ADHM will also have a database of registered health facilities and doctors (public and private facilities).

➡️ Hospitals and healthcare providers can use the platform to access patient records (with prior consent) and plan further management.
PRIVACY

➡️ ADHM does not store any health data entered by the users. It merely facilitates sharing of that data across an encrypted platform.

➡️ Health data uploaded by user is stored in a digital locker - and user can control what data is uploaded or removed.
➡️ Data sharing is also possible only with prior consent of the user. User will have to enter a consent pin (created by themselves) to enable data sharing.
Creating the Digital ID

➡️ Visit healthid.ndhm.gov.in
➡️ Can link Aadhar Card or Phone number to create the ID.
➡️ Create your Password and Personal Health Records Address (basically a username).
➡️ Check your details - name, date of birth, address etc.
➡️ You can change the profile picture to a more recent photo if you want.
➡️ Once you submit - an ID card like the one below is created - you can download that as an image.
The NDHM Health Records App

➡️ Download the NDHM Health Records App.
➡️ Log In using the health ID generated above.
➡️ Go to profile and setup a 4-digit CONSENT PIN and Digital Locker.
➡️ Linking Health Records

> Manual search of state, city and hospital.
> Via AB-PMJAY and CoWIN

➡️ Once linked - it will show up in the app as below.

➡️ Hospitals will be visible to users subject to registration and verification under Health Facility Registry.
➡️ Sharing Health Data

> Top Right corner in profile opens the QR code scanner
> You can scan the QR code of the particular hospital to share any relevant health data as needed.

➡️ App History

> You can also track who requested access to your data and who was granted access.
➡️ Digital Locker

> You can set-up the Digital Locker from your profile.
> Upload documents/scanned copies of your health records as you wish to the digital locker.
> You can even add a family member's separate profile and store their records in the same place.
➡️ Health Facility Registry

> Hospitals and pvt practitioners will also have to register on the database and access the healthcare provider functions on their end. (facility.ndhm.gov.in)
➡️ Healthcare Professionals Registry

> Doctors registered with any Central or State Medical Council, practicing any form of medicine can register.

> Registration will be subject to verification of documents. (I've applied. Awaiting verification.)

(hpr.ndhm.gov.in/en)
The NDHM app still appears to be in nascent stages. The UI is also quite primitive. It should undergo more changes and improvement as time goes by.

So, if you are trying to register, be patient.

COVID-19 Vaccines: What We Know So Far!

- By Dr. Vipin M. Vashishtha, MD @vipintukur

The Global Scenario:

➡️ Ten different Covid-19 vaccines have shared their Phase III data.

2 based on mRNA,
4 on viral vector,

1/n
➡️After 4 months of their trials, now there is a definite gradient in their performance:

Highly efficacious: mRNA,
Moderate: Viral vector,
Low to Moderate: inactivated vaccines.

(based on Trial Data and Post-trial Population Data)

2/n
➡️Efficacy (Point estimates as per published/shared data):

Let's talk about Vaccines.

Still seeing a lot of confusion going around about the Mechanism of vaccines in use. I will attempt to explain it as simply as possible.

Please read, and share.

So, think of the SARS-CoV-2 virus as Ferrero Rocher. 😋😋

1/n
Let's see the structure of the virus first.

Spike Protein = Nutty spikes
Lipid Membrane = Outer Chocolate Layer
Nucleocapsid = Wafery Layer
RNA = Innermost Chocolate

That's putting it very simply for the purpose of understanding.

2/n
Let's see how the virus causes infection.

The virus enters through our respiratory tract. It needs to enter a cell to replicate. For that, it uses the SPIKE PROTEIN (nutty spikes).

Spike protein allows the virus to enter the cell and cause infection.

Sweet and simple.

In view of the rising #misinformation campaign, I'll attempt to debunk some of the most common and widespread myths surrounding #COVID19India.

➡️PREVENTION MYTHS

MYTH:
Wearing masks will reduce O2 and cause CO2 poisoning.

FACT:
Masks DON'T affect the O2-CO2 gas exchange at all. Masks won't reduce the oxygen or increase CO2 in your blood.

A study was also done to prove it. - atsjournals.org/doi/10.1513/An…

MYTH:
#Lemon juice through the nose will kill the virus.

FACT:
Lemon juice is acidic. Taking undiluted lemon juice through the nose will damage the inner lining, cause irritation, and may cause bleeding as well. It will not kill the virus either. DON'T SNORT LEMON JUICE.
