MYTH: #Lemon juice through the nose will kill the virus.
FACT:
Lemon juice is acidic. Taking undiluted lemon juice through the nose will damage the inner lining, cause irritation, and may cause bleeding as well. It will not kill the virus either. DON'T SNORT LEMON JUICE.

MYTH:
Drinking Whiskey or other alcohol frequently will kill the virus in the throat.
FACT:
The virus enters the cells. Drinking a lot of alcohol will not kill the virus but cause alcohol toxicity and liver damage. DO NOT BINGE ON ANY FORM OF ALCOHOL.
4/n
MYTH: Drinking a lot of water will wash down the virus from the throat.
FACT: Water will not wash down the virus. Drinking too much water will not prevent COVID-19.
5/n
MYTH: #VitaminD supplements will improve my immunity and prevent COVID-19 infection.
FACT:
Vitamins are important for good immunity. But supplements should be taken ONLY if there is a deficiency, with the recommendation of a doctor. Excessive intake can cause toxicity.
6/n
For prevention, there are only 4 steps to follow:
1. Masks 2. Distancing 3. Ventilation 4. Hand hygiene
MYTH:
RTPCR cannot detect variants. It is useless.
FACT:
RTPCR is still the Gold Standard test. It can give false negatives like any test. RTPCR tests for 2-3 different genes. Point mutations cannot cause the virus to escape the test.
8/n
Testing is done mainly by Rapid Antigen Tests and RTPCR.
MYTH:
A Nebulizer will improve oxygen levels. (A video went viral.)
FACT:
A nebulizer will not improve oxygen levels.

MYTH:
Common antibiotics will cure COVID.
FACT:
Antibiotics work against bacteria, not viruses. Antibiotics are given only because bacterial co-infection is possible.

➡️VACCINE MYTHS (😱😱😱)
MYTH:
Vaccines cause COVID-19.
FACT:
None of the vaccines contain the live SARS-CoV2 virus. It is biologically impossible for any vaccine to cause infection.
14/n
MYTH:
Vaccines caused the Second Wave.
FACT:
Pandemics always come in waves. Second Wave was always expected. It is occurring due to complacency in following COVID appropriate behaviour and the emergence of the variants with increased transmission.
15/n
MYTH:
Females in their #periods should not get vaccines due to low immunity during periods.
FACT:
Vaccines and Immunity have nothing to do with Menstruation. Any female, in any stage of their menstrual cycle, can and should take the vaccine.
16/n
MYTH:
Vaccines will cause Infertility.
FACT:
Again, vaccines have no relation with the reproductive cycles, reproductive organs, or the reproductive process. Vaccines will not cause Infertility. Nor will they cause increased fertility.
17/n
MYTH:
Vaccines will alter my DNA.
FACT:
Vaccines do not mix with your DNA and will not alter your genes in any manner.
18/n
MYTH:
I am vaccinated. I don't need to wear masks now.
FACT:
Irrespective of the status of vaccination, you still need to wear masks and practice social distancing because:
1. You may still get infected after vaccination. 2. To reduce transmission of the virus.
19/n
MYTH:
I don't need 2 doses of vaccine. I am fit and physically active with a good immune system.
FACT:
Both doses of vaccines are needed for complete immunity. Being fit and physically active doesn't prevent COVID.

➡️ AIM of Vaccines
> Prevent COVID-19 in susceptible individuals.
> Prevent severe COVID-19 infection, thereby reducing the need for hospital admission, ventilation, ICU admission, and death.
> Herd immunity by vaccination.
2/n
➡️ How Vaccines Work
> COVID-19 Vaccines have 2 doses, 4 weeks apart. Both doses are necessary for protection from COVID.
> Single dose of vaccine does not impart complete protection against COVID. One can still get infected after 1st dose ---> Why?

The vaccination drive for COVID19 will soon begin in India.

➡️Why Get Vaccinated?
>Prevention of COVID19 infection.
>Prevention of the long term health risks of COVID19 infection.
>92 million cases and 1.9 million deaths due to COVID by now.
>Vaccine + Masks and Distancing are essential to curb the pandemic.
>You cannot compare the 98-99% recovery rate with 95% vaccine efficacy. If you still want to - understand this: Vaccine reduces chances of mortality from 1% to 0.05%.
>Vaccines will NOT cause any mutations in your body.
