The Prosecution led by SADPP Catherine Mwaniki and ADPP Gikui Gichuhi yesterday presented two witnesses in the case whereby, Joseph Irungu alias Jowie and Jackie Maribe are charged for Murder of Monica Kimani.
Brian Kasaine, a businessman & farmer, confirmed to the court that he lent Jowie Irungu his firearm and he also noticed a hole in the wall of the two accused persons' house with a spent firearm cartridge beneath it. He told court that Jowie had handled his gun three times.
The Prosecution produced a set of 120 photographs depicting the location where some items were burnt, as well as where gun ammunition belonging to Joseph Irungu were recovered by the witness. The witness told the court, the accused asked him whether he had anything flammable.
The 18th PW, Teddy Mugambi Kihara, Head of Surveillance Team at Kenya Airports Authority attached to JKIA presented a total of nine portable media clips obtained from their security systems that depicted the deceased's activity at JKIA.
The case has been scheduled for hearings between 25th & 26th October and 11th & 15th November 2021. Lady Justice Nzioka also noted that there is a pending ruling of an application by the prosecution to be determined virtually on 12th October 2021.
The Prosecution has so far presented 18 witnesses in the matter while 8 witnesses are remaining.

.@ODPP_KE attention has been drawn to a misleading heading by a local newspaper claiming @EACCKenya did not probe allegations of irregular withdrawal of Ksh 26.1 million from Wajir County Government by county officials.

On contrary, the IO in his testimony on 10/2/2020 during cross examination by defence confirmed @EACCKenya was involved & that more officers from the Forensic Department were deployed from @EACCKenya Headquarters to boost Wajir team in investigations.
The IO testified that investigations revealed the accused persons conived to withdraw the said monies by 5 cheques at KCB, Wajir branch between 2nd & 9th October, 2018.

The IO to continue to testify on 14/2/2020.
