I launched a house cleaning company almost right out of college.
In 1 year I was able to grow it to grossing almost 20k a month from pure hard work, great customer communication, and being resourceful.
Let me help you! π§΅
1/ It's less complicated than you think but it does require some hard work and grit.
So let's say you're broke and have no idea what you want to do but you are willing to work hard and be resourceful.
The first thing on your mind should be MONEY.
2/ Without money, you really can't do anything.
Sad but true.....
We need a super low barrier to entry industry that's outdated and you can easily jump in and capture market share fast with some great software and good customer service.
3/ A Residential Cleaning Business !!!!! π―π―
4/ Estimated Upfront Cost:
Bootstrapped: Under $1000
Wix Website: $30-40 (Estimated)
LLC: $132 (Estimated)
Insurance: $100/month (Estimated)
Jobber: $40/Month (First Month)
GoogleAds: $250 (First Month)
IndeedJobs Ads: $250 (First Month)
5/ But how do I find cleaners? How do I find customers?
We are going to bootstrap the shit out of this and yes it will take hard work but you can do it!
I ALWAYS RECOMMEND finding the cleaners first before seeking the customers. I do not recommend trying to find customers first
6/Trust me the demand is there.
House cleaning used to be a luxury service for people now everyone wants it.
Keep it Simple Stupid - Post a Job Ad on an Indeed job and let the applicants start coming your way.
Find a good cleaner either a 1099 or subcontractor...
7/ (Please make sure to understand your state rules for employment laws)
I recommend:
Cleaners that have 2+ years of experience.
Background/Criminal record check approved.
Valid Drivers license and Access to a Vehicle.
8/Next,
Start a biz Instagram account and a Facebook account.
Next, we are going to draft a nice cold DM message template something like, "Hello ___, my name is _____ we are ABC Cleaning Co. we wanted to reach out and see if you were in need of any house cleaning services?"
9/ Next, every day for the next week you are going to spend 30mins a day finding realtors, property managers, mortgage brokers, title insurance, interior designers, etc in your local areas on Instagram (trust me they're all on there, they love flexing their fancy Instagrams) then
10/ you will start following and DMing everyone you can find.....
I can not guarantee you it will work on the first DM or right away but you are planting a seed. Make sure to follow up with people if they do not reply to you within a couple of days also.
11/ Alright so your DMs are out there working in the background and NOW, you are going to be posting a GoogleAd. I am not going to talk about this in-depth. Just, Keep it Simple Stupid.
I am not a marketing or SEO wiz, and if you aren't either just follow the formula google...
12/ recommends for you and post that ad. I promise home services businesses when it comes to marketing... super simple. "instant booking" or "Instant quote" "ABC Cleaning Co Reliable Services" is all it takes.
13/ Assuming you have done everything recommended...I would say you have a customer within 3 days. Yes, it is that easy.
Now the main focus here, in the beginning, is a couple of things:
14/
- Do not stop hiring cleaners. This may be the most important thing. This is a numbers game in the beginning and you CAN NOT be the cleaning service that when customers call you to have no cleaners available... it's a bad look.
15/
- Focusing on "General and Consistent Cleanings" this type of customer should be your main focus in the beginning. Of course, never turn down a one-off cleaning or a large move-out cleaning. BUT you want to get as many people who book weekly or bi-weekly as possible.
16/
- Do not forget to template workflows and your business. The cleaning industry is very reactive and things can get forgotten and put on the back burner. The earlier on you template your workflows and automate through tech (jobber) you are going to be able to scale SO FAST.
17/
- Ask for google reviews on new customers that are very happy with your services. The faster you can gain traction with great google reviews the better.
Follow this playbook for 6 months.
Work hard, have some grit and you will be at 10-20k months.
This course is a no brainer for you if youβre interested in the cleaning industry.
This thread is just the beginning. You can scale this cash flowing machine to HUGE levels.
Why would anyone ever be interested in property management?
What a weird thing to be interested in...
Aren't you worried about the headaches? The late-night phone calls?
No...let me break this down for you. π§΅
1/ All businesses have headaches..... I just don't mind the headaches with industries that have very high potential revenue numbers with high net margins and very little expenses.
And that's exactly what property management is.
I am talking specifically about...
2/ the management of short-term rentals (Under 30-day stays).
I am not interested in the long-term, multi-unit, and large HOA/strata type complexes that require large labor leverage and management.
I am interested in short-term guests staying in...
