good morning from unceded lands of the sovereign Darug people☀️today on #Insiders are murdoch politics editor Sam Maiden, ABC NSW politics corro Ashleigh Rapier, 9fax politics corro Jaqueline Maley and ABC politics editor Andrew Probyn. The interview is with Ed Husic.
opening spiel: “Gladys Berejiklian gone under a lots of corruption”. What’s the Morrison perspective, skip? Morrison loses a crucial ally. Morrison wanted clear air for his border announcement. Morrison Morrison Morrison #Insiders
it is all to do to her former boyfriend - actual editorialising from Speers this morning. It is all to do with a corruption investigation, David. #Insiders
multiple clips of Gladys Berejiklian on the “integrity” of Gladys Berejiklian, which is under investigation by the integrity commission. Many Liberal Party politicians’ views of their party colleague are also aired. #Insiders
if NSW is”without a leader” where is the evidence this makes any difference whatsoever? #Insiders
#MakingNews is what yet another failed NSW Liberal Party leader thinks of a failed NSW Liberal Party leader. #Insiders
“comes at the worst time” - Speers amplifying the Berejiklian perspective on Berejiklian. #Insiders
we start with Raper. She starts with Darryl Maguire. The issue is ICAC is investigating Berejiklian on four counts of corruption and dishonesty. #Insiders
“what she knew, when she knew, and what she did about it” says Raper. Apparently rumours ran wild when Berejiklian announced she would no longer do the daily briefing. Of course the lies she told about why she made this decision were dutifully reported far and wide. #Insiders
clip of Berejiklian testifying to the ICAC that she prioritises the people of NSW over her personal ambition ad politics, a lie. #Insiders
the dodgy bf narrative gets yet more coverage. Maley says she was able to spin it and there was a lot of soft coverage. Fails to note Berejiklian is the most senior woman *Liberal Party* politician ever and that’s why she got the soft treatment. #Insidera
it is extraordinary to claim that Gladys Berejiklian should not be held accountable for her actions, says Maley, even tho that exact line is being run 24/7 by pro-Liberal Party media. #Insiders
far out. Sam Maiden also puts the soft treatment of Berejiklian by media outlets down to Berejiklian’s political skills instead of the vastly different way Liberal Party political scandals are covered by journalists. #Insiders
dodgy boyfriend, dodgy Darryl, echoes Probyn, adding that her judgement and her conduct is “now in question”. As Maiden noted, she has almost certainly already been questioned. By the ICAC. They interview privately first. #Insiders
there is no right time or wrong time to investigate corruption, says Maiden. These are serious allegations. Even tho she was refuting Probyn, Speers jumps in and says yes but “it is clearly a bad time for the government”. Which government, David? Morrison’s? #Insiders
even as Probyn exercises his right of reply, Speers repeats that “it” is “bad news for the government”. He then remembers to name some corrupt Labor politicians and veers off to leadership speculation. #Insiders
lol Perottet, Ayers, Keene, Roberts and Constance of all people get the leadership roll call. I can’t tell any of those males apart but apparently they have some distinguishing features. #Insiders
but Perottet looks like the front runner and anyway will the tarnishing of the Berejiklian brand affect the feds? Speers wants to know. Probyn says maybe, in a roundabout way. Maley says Perrottet and Morrison interests might diverge down the track. #Insiders
seems the Perottet-Frydenberg chitchat is well known to journalists. Maley says Perottet is a “let-it-ripper” and he may have to back track if hospitals are looking like being overwhelmed, just as Berejiklian had to back track. #Insiders
sorry Stokes I forgot about Stokes. Raper says the NSW Liberals “want to avoid that messy ballot” and not have a secret ballot. #Insiders
as tho we have not heard it eleventy times already, the interview segue clip is of Berejiklian complaining about the timing of corruption investigations. Speers notes that ICAC is proscribed by law from delaying investigations. #Insiders
if this was such an important time, she would be doing daily briefings says Husic. He notes she was already being monitored by ICAC as a person of interest. He says she chose to resign, ICAC did not (and can not) make her do that. #Insiders
she managed a very ideological political lockdown says Husic. She divided the city and made decisions for the west and south west that she did not inflict on the north and the east🔥🔥#Insiders
yes your area “has been hit hard” says Speers, reframing the public health failures and heavy handed policing and casualised workforce as some kind of agent-less natural phenomena. Husic rejects this nonsense. #Insiders
we have had a national cabinet, a stepped out phased plan, and where it is safe to do so we should ease restrictions, says Husic. We need the healthcare investment to be there. There are disparities across the city of Sydney. Liberals are bad for our health, says Husic. #Insiders
I watched them with lead feet coming to the party on income support, says Husic. Frydenberg sounds more like he is browbeating than evidence based policy [paraphrased]. The Liberals are relying on some kind of snapback. #Insiders
treasury is confident the economy will recover after lockdowns, says Speers. By GDP maybe mate. DISTRIBUTION of resources, the gross inequalities, are never countenanced in these discussions. #Insiders
there are differential [economic] outcomes in different parts of the country, explains Husic. Yes but what should they do? asks Speers, repeatedly. #Insiders
mandatory vax? We should be careful about compulsion and bring people with us, says Husic. Decisions should be guided by medical advice. But mandatory? asks Speers. Mandatory for MPs tho? #Insiders
we can’t urge people to vaccinate and not be vaccinated ourselves, says Husic. Have you developed any industry policies yet? Lmao trying to imagine ANYONE asking Christian Porter what industry policy he developed. A Roundtable or five about two years ago, from memory. #Insiders
clean energy investment, manufacturing capability, says Husic. Creating jobs and secure employment, jobs in the regions (code for coal). #Insiders
what about building submarines? What we’ve had is slowly decreasing level of local industry involvement, says Husic, on defence industry. Big announcements at the start and no follow through. #Insiders
do they all need to be made here? All the submarines? He is talking about a squillion dollar defence build like Sunday morning gotchas hurled at a shadow minister makes the slightest difference to what the US wants lol #Insiders
has Scott Morrison rewarded his mates? asks Speers, of the only ministerial method ever deployed on the Liberal Party. Maiden calls this Mayes talk “perjorative” and twinkles sweetly that she is sure all the cabinet promotions were made on merit. #Insiders
reason for cabinet reshuffle. Probyn reminds us that Porter was initially responsible for a federal integrity commissions and is afraid of a federal integrity commission. Probyn says the federal government is “exposed on that front”, altho he does not say how. #Insiders
a federal integrity commission is a clear distinction between the parties and Labor will want to fight hard on that front at the next election, says Maley. She says independents in blue ribbon seats a la Steggles will also be campaigning on integrity. #Insiders
clip of Morrison with his rushed announcement on borders and setting out his election strategy of picking fights with Labor premiers. At the exact moment a Liberal Premier was reigning due to corruption investigations. #Insiders
the role of actual airlines and not just politicians from Maiden. Very practical. Speers asks Probyn about income support, which they call “turning the tap off”. Probyn says there have been five versions of income support announcements by his count. #Insiders
also practical concerns from Probyn, on abolishing income support when hospitals could yet become overwhelmed. He reminds that we are not at 70% yet and don’t know how the health system will cope at 70% easing restrictions. #Insiders
clip of McKenzie saying she has not seen a plan. Maiden clarifies that she is the government speaking to the government is a senior Nationals politician, a cabinet minister, claiming she does not know the federal government plan to take to Glasgow. #Insiders
I am not sure what the problem is here. Morrison leaves everything until he can no longer ignore it - politically - and then announces a plan and the sun still rises each morning. #Insiders
Maley says they need a plan and also we still do not know if Morrison is going to hop a plane to Glasgow. Again, I am not sure there is any evidence of Morrison plans or trips achieving anything beyond the announcement. They are still approving coal mines. #Insiders
#TalkingPictures is up. The cartoonists agree that Morrison going or not going to Glasgow means fuck all, really. #Insiders
Kudelka is a back to you Mr Speers man. #Insiders
#FinalObservations 1 is Maley saying Taylor has never satisfactorily answered questions about how the fabricated travel cost figures got from his office into the Daily Telegraph. #Insiders
#FinalObservations 2 is Probyn saying to watch The Brief on ABC iView and also the idea we can build nuclear submarines in Australia is fanciful [paraphrased] #Insiders
#FinalObservations 3 is Maiden breaking news about NSW Liberal Party politician Andrew Constance deciding he will run in the federal seat of Gilmore. Speers eagerly says that he, too, just confirmed this news. #Insiders
we go out with excruciating footage of McKenzie and Frydenberg talking over each other on the repeal of income support. It’s my op-Ed mate lol Bridget. See ya Joshy says she. #Insiders
this has been another edition of watching #Insiders so you don’t have to👋🏼👋🏼👋🏼

and is there ANYTHING with less news value than the opinion of retired Liberal Party politicians. We know exactly what they are going to say. This never-ending parade of washed up partisans who joined a disgusting organisation to make the world a worse place.
I mean they are experts in what exactly? Lying about how factional hatreds play out? So fucking what? Most are losers who failed the people while in government and failed in their own ambition. And this parade of partisan legacy promotion is foisted on us constantly.
oh and actual current elected officials as well as political journalists deliberately spreading misinformation about how the system works. She took herself out, as only she - between elections - can. It is like they do not know why Porter is still in the parliament.

finally the work of David Shoebridge gets a look in. Now that we have spent hours and hours broadcasting the Liberal Party perspective of a Liberal Party leader resigning due to being under investigation for multiple counts of dishonesty and corruption.
it’s not just this one grant, says Shoebridge. There have been hundreds and hundreds of millions of public dollars handed out for party political gain.
should ICAC have waited due to covid? asks glover for the eleventeenth time. He is very enarmoured of this claim made by a politician about the independent commission against corruption that is investigating her for corruption.

comms hack: when any Morrison government rep says “we will continue to”, they are lying and covering up repeated and predictable corruption and failures.
this morning it was a rushed statement while Kelly was interviewing Ben Gauntlet on RN about evidence-based findings that the government has not prioritised vaccinating disabled people, saying “we will continue to prioritise” vaccinating disabled people, a lie.
it is part of the gaslighting manipulation of timeframes that bookend all their lies - the past happened differently to what evidence shows, the present is somehow not a shitshow, while campaigning on future outcomes which are never realised.

Berejiklian is at Shanes Park to announce a 500 hectare national park. She says second doses are just off 60% which seems to mean over 16s as she then adds 12-15 year old first dose figures.
incredibly rare sighting of Berejiklian mentioning when unvacccinated people will be able to “participate”. She reels off cases and deaths and goes back to the Shanes Park announcement.
btw Shanes Park is a semi-rural spot between Mt Druitt and the Blacktown Road of mostly jerry-built shacks interspersed with land-value wealth McMansions. The minister is bouncing with benevolence for western Sydney and calls the park “your very own Noah’s ark”.
