If I had a ton of money (~$100+ million) to start a company and solve a problem, I'd probably go for something in healthcare of course (my passion).
I have so many thoughts on #healthcaretech but I think two major solutions that would benefit the industry are:
1. truly decentralized patient record. So many inefficiencies in the system come down to communicating and reconciling a patient's data. Ends up in a terrible experience, high costs, and overworked folks.
All up dates need to be real-time, accessible, and secure.
issues surrounding data reconciliation will occur, but I think providers and HIM professionals would be more than happy to find systems to resolve potential conflicts.
2. Methods of extracting all relevant discrete patient data from narratival data.
The only way for us to practically allow nurses and providers to do what they do best - talk with the patient and educate them - is to take the task of data entry away.
If digital intake were less form field typing and more extraction, then frankly MORE data could likely be gathered. Inefficiencies in the diagnosis or treatment planning process could be avoided.
We are social, storytelling creatures. This is the future of #product frankly.
Imagine a whole conversation recorded and combined with a dictation. Sent to a model. And a whole set of new data to review, actions to take (orders), and notes generated.
Because templating is so common, this is higher quality to the nth degree.
This is why I'm excited about #machinelearningai and #blockchain in #healthcare but we're not quite there yet. But we're going to be close in the next 10-20 years!
