Today after seven years, it has barely been enforced / notified. Instead, an amendment Bill was introduced in Parliament in 2015 that proposed to withdraw the immunity available to whistleblowers under the Official Secrets Act (OSA), which provides punishment of 14 years!!! 8/n
It is not too difficult to understand why most common people do not use RTI for exposing corruption, and political police bureaucracy mafia Nexus entrenched in every segment of society and economy : everyone wants to live! Brits left in 1947 but are we truly free? 9/n
Yesterday was RTI Diwas and the 16th anniversary of the RTI Act. Let’s join in to commemorate the 100s of unsung brave soldiers of Democracy who laid down their lives to make India a truly free country: let’s complete what they started while managing to Stay Alive! Jai Hind! END
