lwj is late to breakfast. lxc, concerned, goes to lwjs room to investigate & finds his didi sat motionless on the bed, on his lap is a tiny snoozing fox

“I have been chosen, brother.” He says, very seriously. “It is my duty.”

lxc is taken aback of course. He hadn’t known his little brother to ever be so serious about something as he was about this dribbling fox cub.

when he offers to take the fox onto his own lap lwj near on bites him

“Mine” he honks, because lwj has not yet learnt how to growl. “My a-ying.”

Lxc retracts his hands for fear of losing them
