Dogra Lt Col Narain Singh of JK State Forces was betrayed by his Muslim officers of the 2 Muslim companies under him. On 21/22 Oct 1947 the Muslim element of 4th Battalion at Lohargali & Ramkot swept by religious fanaticism joined hands with the enemy. #ButchersOfKashmir 
They lead the enemy to pre arranged positions in Muzzafarabad & Domel.
They not only killed Lt Col Narain Singh Sambyal but also other comrades who stood in the way of their nefarious designs. This was the most treacherous & dastardly act in the annals of military history.

The 4th Battalion had the best Hindu-Muslim unity among all ranks. They had fought shoulder to shoulder against the Japanese and would eat from one langar, food cooked by a team of cooks belonging to both the communities.
In fact Lt Col Narain Singh had such loyalty towards his command & his subordinates that he took offence to repeated questioning about the loyalty of his men & the suggestion of replacing his Muslim companies with Hindu companies.
History many judge this error of judgment but Lt Col Narain Singh Sambyal as a Commanding Officer had immense faith in the loyalty of his men. He was the embodiment of the ethos of armies world over.
