Dogra Lt Col Narain Singh of JK State Forces was betrayed by his Muslim officers of the 2 Muslim companies under him. On 21/22 Oct 1947 the Muslim element of 4th Battalion at Lohargali & Ramkot swept by religious fanaticism joined hands with the enemy. #ButchersOfKashmir Image
They lead the enemy to pre arranged positions in Muzzafarabad & Domel.
They not only killed Lt Col Narain Singh Sambyal but also other comrades who stood in the way of their nefarious designs. This was the most treacherous & dastardly act in the annals of military history.
The 4th Battalion had the best Hindu-Muslim unity among all ranks. They had fought shoulder to shoulder against the Japanese and would eat from one langar, food cooked by a team of cooks belonging to both the communities.
In fact Lt Col Narain Singh had such loyalty towards his command & his subordinates that he took offence to repeated questioning about the loyalty of his men & the suggestion of replacing his Muslim companies with Hindu companies.
History many judge this error of judgment but Lt Col Narain Singh Sambyal as a Commanding Officer had immense faith in the loyalty of his men. He was the embodiment of the ethos of armies world over.

I just came home after watching #TheKashmirFiles
It would be a lie if I said I am shocked or numb. I am a Dogra from Jammu Kashmir. We know. We have always known. I am just so relieved that now you also know.
We knew in 1931 when Sheikh Abdullah who had recd higher education because of Maharaja Hari Singh’s scholarship stood on the pulpits of a Mosque and shouted Quit Kashmir targeting Dogras & the Hindu Dogra rule.
We knew because in 1947 the entire POJ (Mirpur, Kotli, Bhimber to Muzzafarabad belt) was annihilated of its Hindus & Sikhs. Women jumping into Kishenganga river after throwing their children first. Thousands were killed, women abducted, raped & sold by Pakistanis.

#TheKashmirFiles releases today. Please go and watch the truth of Kashmiri Pandits and Hindus of Jammu Kashmir. Then ask yourself :
- Why it took 32 years for truth to be told.
- Why media remained silent or whitewashed the truth like a Barkha Dutt. Image
- Why agenda driven liars in the academia like Nivedita Menon (Pallavi Joshi’s character in the film) & “activists” like Arundhati Roy lied and mislead, even going to the extent of befriending the killer of Kashmiri Hindus Yasin Malik.
- Why the British Parliamentarians have stood on the wrong side of the Kashmir debate on the behest of their Pakistani Punjabi origin constituents.
- Why Justice still remains to be done.

In a way I am glad with what is happening today. It is making me question everything. From my Convent school harassing me for being the only student with a pierced nose & my parents having to defend & explain that it’s an essential part of Dogra culture.
Students being fined for speaking regional languages & not English, in the school playground, starkly different to multilingualism being celebrated in schools abroad. Those educated in vernacular medium disadvantaged & labelled Graain/Pendu/Ghaati/Bhaiya/illiterate etc.
Religious study a subject taught in primary & secondary schools in UK as opposed to convoluted ideas of secularism which shame practicing Hindus and reduce & ridicule Dharmic traditions.

Raghunath Mandir, Suchetgarh, is on zero point at the International Border in Jammu. The Mandir was built by Dogra Maharaja Gulab Singh in 1837. The Dogra Jamwal dynasty are Suryavanshi Rajput who trace their lineage to Ikshvaku dynasty & Vishnu Avatar Shri Ram is their Kuldevta.
Beautiful wall paintings adorn the garbh griha of the Raghunath Mandir at Suchetgarh, Jammu.
Mandir’s garbh griha also bears the marks of two mortars fired by Pakistan that landed on the Temple in the Indo-Pak war of 1971.

A beautiful painting done by Jammu artist KK Gandhi depicting Krimchi Temples of Udhampur, #Jammu. Locally known as the Pandava Temples because of a belief that the Pandavas worshipped here during their agyat vaas. The Temples consist of 5 temples & 2 shrines.
#TemplesofJammu
The Temples have a garbhagriha with curvilinear shikara & an elongated antarala with a sukanasika decorated with kutasikara & kalasa motif. Some temples have a pillared mandapa infront of antarala, which appears to have been added at a later date.
The temples are believed to be built on tiratha or pancharatha plan externally & square internally. Inner walls of antarala have trefoil niches & pattern of inverted lotus flower on the ceiling under double tiered triangular roof.

On #WorldHeritageDay I showcase the soul of #Dogra people & the epicentre of their modern history. The images will also reveal how if you want to squash a voice, you erase their history & self-esteem. This site has been a victim of loot, pillage & arson. #MubarakMandi #Jammu
The #MubarakMandi Palace complex holds 300 yrs of Dogra history within itself. With over 20 palaces built over 200 years starting at 1710 it is unlike any other. From here the Dogra rulers reigned over their sprawling kingdom.
For over 200 years, they ruled over an area that stretched from the Pir Panjal mountain range in the north, the plains of Punjab to the South to Ladakh & Tibet in the east.
