MPs like @JonesyFay block responses - to prevent people challenging her.

Sure investment in our sewage systems is needed. This is not new.

Blinks hard at 11yrs Tory.

But Brexit led to a shortage of easy accessible chemicals to treat water which is why we are where we are
She thinks we won’t be arsed to read what the Lord’s amendment set out to do.

No doubt because the lot of them could not be arsed to read and understand the WA and TCA, whilst preventing MPs having committee & debating time so they understood it before they voted on it.
Or find out how much money water companies gave away in dividends when they needed to invest it in infrastructure.

£57 billion over a couple of decades

Or what water companies COULD do as part of a plan to prevent getting to where we are.
Or read what was going on in September 2021 that lead to them being unable to treat the sewage. The BREXIT related shortage of essential chemicals.

That MPs were WARNED about repeatedly as a BREXIT related risk. It was even in YELLOWHAMMER.
But they couldn’t be arsed to take the warnings seriously and carried on regardless dismissing the warnings as “Project Fear” thoroughly wrapped up in insults about those who issued the warnings.
Well Project Fear is turning out to be Project Fact and y’all don’t have the courage or decency to look that fact in the eye and say “We were wrong. I am so sorry. “

I’ll tell you what’s abusive.

NOT people holding these MPs to account as they should.
It is MPs doing what they have done to us. Lied. Lied some more. To get people to vote for a state of affairs that will make them worse off

Insult those that did nothing more than tell the bleak truth.

That’s abusive.
Trying to repackage their gross errors as nothing to do with their bad choices

That’s abusive.

And we are all having to live with the unwanted consequences they were warned about and dismissed.
There was a plan. #WaterFrameworkDirective

They rejected it when they recklessly bullied through the Treaties they now whinge about, frittering away what good standing in the world we had.

And now they expect people to not be angry with them? Or show it?

Get real.
They can’t get the chemicals to where they are needed…you guessed it…because they can’t get enough lorry drivers to shift the stuff.

Something else the Government was warned and warned about BEFORE they pushed through their disastrous Brexit AND warned about before Covid.
Here’s a pithy, factual and to the point rebuttal from @Margin4Error , someone who has worked in the water industry for years.

More details about the reality of the Lords’ amendments here

False Covid test results not cause of surge in south-west England, says No 10 | Coronavirus | The Guardian

Give me a fucking break

I attach positivity levels for Cheltenham

And why did the ⁦@guardian frame it’s headline this RIDICULOUS way
theguardian.com/world/2021/oct…
Before the Immensa SUI
Keep looking at the column on the right . See ⬆️ 6-9-21.

Positivity 7.5%

A week later? 2.3% on 13-09-21. That is a 5.2% drop in 7 days.

Infectious disease both grow and subside exponentially.

0.1%/ 0.2% every day unless you are in lockdown.

They don’t drop like a stone.

@RobertSyms Wow! @RobertSyms

1/ Wales have not submitted any case or death data
2/. It is Monday (..so tends to be low Sunday and Monday…then catch up Tuesday to Friday
3/. It is half term. Testing reduces a lot.
4/. Infectious diseases both grow and subside exponentially.
@RobertSyms 5/. So if cases are “dropping like a stone” that is a sign that there is trouble in the testing world.

It was the first clue there was a problem with testing #Immensa fiasco. @RobertSyms

6/ Positivity levels are increasing 9.8% in England from today’s website.
@RobertSyms However.

I would expect half term, thus reducing human contact in classrooms to reduce the opportunities for Covid to grow. But infections caught towards the end of last week, will likely show up this

Ask your colleague, Alex Chalk, who was maskless in PMQs on Wed @RobertSyms

Do you see, water rate payers?

We pay both the fine & the bonus.

AND get untreated sewage poured into our rivers & seas as well.

Untreated because they can’t get the chemicals to the water companies who need it in a timely manner or sufficient quantity- Lorry driver shortage
Discharged untreated because this Government voted down a provision to prevent it happening.

Hard to think that in 2011 80% of UK bathing waters, both coastal & inland, were rated EXCELLENT under EU clean water directive.

2020: 17.2%

Blinks in Tory Government
So did the problem start before Brexit?
It surely did.

Has it got worse in part due to Brexit?

It surely has & at a time when it needed very sharp improvement to reverse the damage done.

And the Gov was warned about HGV driver shortage & pressures on logistic BEFORE Brexit

The thing that struck me most about the recent void data is that at one point (see @OliasDave animation - and h/t to him for digging into this in the first place) voids hit nearly 10%. Which is more than the known prevalence at the time.
This is not #IMMENSA specific data but regional data aggregated from all labs

So some may be very low in voids and others even higher

So lab specific void data would be very helpful, as would data about the numbers & percentage IMMENSA handled from each tests site each day/week
I recall that around last September there were large numbers of voids from one lab. Maybe more. Which one(s)? What was the cause(s)?

And Randox binned large numbers (which they said took too long to get to them).

What is the KPI contractual measure for voids?

In the light of this I am going to tweet out the fact that my own MP, Alex Chalk, has tested Covid positive

No “Good. He deserves it” messages, please
It diverts from the key anti-PH message that @RishiSunak is sending

This is Alex Chalk in a crowded House of Commons Wed
He was pinged (it looks like on Friday) & promptly did a PCR test and is isolating.

I’m sure he has also been responsible and been double vaccinated

So whoever gave it to him, for him to be positive on Friday must, themselves have been high viral load just days before.
He says he was asymptomatic so unaware.

So maybe he too was high viral load when he was unmasked in a crowded House of Commons on Wednesday.

How did he travel? Train? Did he stay up? Travel back? When?

Go into offices? Meetings? All unmasked.

HE might be alright, Jack.

David Hare furious at BBC after it rejects his Covid play, starring Ralph Fiennes

“Everyone was very keen on the show at the BBC until it went upstairs. Suddenly, mysteriously, something they were very keen to show, they became less keen to show.” theguardian.com/culture/2021/o…
Suddenly it was “no one wants to see a play about Covid”

@Channel4 HELP has attracted their 2nd highest viewers for drama so I really think they do @BBC

The @BBC is yet again allowing protecting the Government from criticism to interfere with its duty of impartiality @Ofcom
“His drama explores his illness, recovery, survivor’s rage and, ultimately, just being “glad to be alive”.
In the play, he takes aim at the prime minister and cabinet ministers and their systematic failings..
