This article written by a certainMoriah Assefa & published by @EthiopiaInsight aka @wdavison10 is an attempt at analysis that falls even below the abysmal standard set by many pseudo intellectuals in the pro-#TPLF camp.
1/ The writer dismisses every claim ever made about the geopolitical nature of the USGs stance regarding Ethiopia by branding them as conspiratorial, pseudo intellectual and propaganda.
Yet he doesn't put forward any credible reason why any of them aren't plausible explanstions except his conviction that they 'just are.' He just wants us to take his words for it!
2/ His alternative explanation is that the USGs ill will towards the GOE is all about human rights!
Let's see how well this explanation holds.
- All USG interventions since WWII including Korea,Vietnam, Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, Libya, Yemen all left these countries worse of in terms of Human Rights at the conclusion of US intervention.
Either the US is very bad at promoting human rights or HR is not the guiding principle behind these interventions.
- In terms of the current crisis, the USGs opposition to the GOE started way before any credible allegation of HR abuse surfaced.
- If HR is the USGs main concern vis avis #Ethiopia, all alleged HR violations would have hold same weight whether in Tigray, #Amhara or #Afar. Unfortunately, for the Biden administration all lives are equal but some lives are more equal than others!
- If HR is the USGs main concern, it would have encouraged positive moves by the GOE such as the unilateral ceasefire and would have condemned #TPLFs aggression into #Amhara and #Afar.
Honestly speaking, the conviction that the US FP towards #Ethiopia is driven by HR concerns is laughable and one needs to be either incredibly naive or inane to accept it as a serious explanation. Even @AmbRice46 would belt out her trademark laughter!
No matter how many fancy words you use, a bad explanation will always be a bad explanation.
1/ On Nov 2 Virginians will vote in the Gubernatorial Election. On Nov 4 #Ethiopians all over the world will hold a day of remembrance for the hundreds of Ethiopian soldiers massacred by the TPLF in the dead of night on Nov 4, 2020.
2/ Belatedly, both sides are scrambling to appeal to Ethiopians. #Ethiopians will not be swayed by vacous video messages or bland statements. Ethiopians demand change in US FP towards Ethiopia! Ethiopians demand action! So far the Biden admin has been found wanting!
3/ The current adminstartion's support for #TPLF and demonization of GOE is clear as daylight. The liberal political-media complex is working day and night against Ethiopia.
1/ The attempt by Professor Moriarty to portray a couple of haystacks as targets of air bombardment was laughable and cringeworthy. However, I think it is a prequel to a more sinister #TPLF plan!
2/ We #Ethiopians know two things about TPLF. They are very predictable and very dogged! As the air bomanradement continues and the capacity of the #TPLF keeps getting degraded, I suspect they will resort to Plan C, which is committing unspeakable atrocities in #Tigray.
3/ The #TPLF might blow up residential areas or even shoot down a UN flight as @stesfa has predicted and lay the blame on #Ethiopia.
1. For the past eleven months, the pro-#Ethiopia camp has been screaming bloody murder regarding the virtually complete media blackout of Pro-#Ethiopian voices.
The media blackout and the negative coverage of #Ethiopia by the MSM has resulted in a cascading effect, leading astray not only ordinary citizens but also academicians who you think would know better.
For this thread, demonstrating the the media blackout, I have collaborated with another exceptionally talented Ethiopian, @Samriethio!
Thread #BadScience: activism masquerading as scholarship
Three scholars started out with a commendable research question: to see whether disinformation was being used in the ‘Tigray’ conflict by both sides! The bad news is they did a very bad job! Exceptionally bad!
For this thread I collaborated with the exceptionally talented @malesadin and here are our findings.
1/ In terms of methodology, the researchers used qualitative methods to contextualize their SM data analysis, but don’t give the details of the qualitative side of the research
This makes it almost impossible for other researchers to replicate their research and confirm or dis-confirm their findings. Why the authors chose to do this is anyone’s guess!
1/ @wdavison10’s favorite trope is his claim that he is an ‘Independent Analyst’ of all things #Ethiopian. So much so that he DM’d me following my previous thread👇 on him, saying that it was full of errors & inaccuracies.
I took his outrage seriously and asked @Kings_of_Nile to undertake a network analysis of Mr. @wdavison10's twitter outputs and interactions. If truly independent his network would have reasonably proportional representation from both camps. This is what we have uncovered!
1/ The expulsion of the seven UN workers have sparked a lot of controversy. This thread delves into the connection of one of them, Kwesi Sansculotte-Greenidge, with none other than Tsadkan G/Tensae.
2/ In 2011, South Sudan became the youngest nation in the world. Soon afterwards, Tsadkan, went to Juba as Security Sector Reform (SSR) advisor to the new SS government, employed by the UK Department of International Development and worked in Juba for several years.
3/ From 2011-14, Kwesi Sansculotte-Greenidge was Coordinator of ACCORD's South Sudan Initiative that focuses on SSR and was based in Juba!
