How’s #HFPP affecting the care of patients w/#pain? Was there public input when this partnership was formed w/#CMS#payers, #LE? We start with info links & near the end of the thread, an example of one payer’s efforts to fulfill their part. #cpp#opioids downloads.cms.gov/files/hfpp/hfp…
Notice in the above link from the Attorneys General, a Geisinger study was cited stating that opioids are ineffective and can be life threatening for pain lasting longer than 3 months.
This link is the dec, 2016 article from Geisinger Heath , as cited (11) in the AG’s letter to AHIP. (See above for link) dailyitem.com/news/local_new…
I went back and checked a few things:
1. Was Geisinger a HFPP partner back in 2016?
yes
2. What was the date of the HFPP meeting?
Oct 20, 2016.
3. What was the publishing date for the Geisinger article that was cited in the AGs letter?
Dec.7, 2016
I believe this particular study/article was done as a part of the HFPP work. Now it’s being cited in this letter, as well : docs.house.gov/meetings/IF/IF…
I’m not even sure how to end this other than reinforcing how harmful things can turn out when the people affected by policy are purposefully kept from having any input. The whole thing is yet another glaring COI that helps $ enrich all the parties involved.
You want to know why Durbin, a congress member, is trying to influence the whole opioid issue? Because his long time chief of staff’s wife is neck-deep in lobbying for clients that directly benefit from smearing opioid pharmaceuticals for money from the billions in litigation.
I stand by my belief that any politician at this point that continues to restrict rx pain meds has some major $ skin in the game. They’re all aware of the illicit poly drug OD crisis. There’s NO EXCUSE for torturing ppl in pain other than financial gain or depravity.
Not to mention his biggest campaign donors are attorneys and law firms…
October of 2017, AGs wrote letters to 15 PBMs, which were based on the cdc guidelines. No wonder ppl report issues getting RXs….portal.ct.gov/AG/Press-Relea…
Here’s are the letters. I’m now understanding why CVS (along with BCBS) was allowed to be on the special voting committee for the Purdue case. A few examples in the screenshots ⬇️ Did they make a deal, I wonder?😡 portal.ct.gov/-/media/AG/Pre…
I was personally harmed by what CVS (Caremark) did here. Tomorrow I’ll be digging up the paperwork to post to show evidence of them trying to force/taper me down. They didn’t just use the cdc acute gls, they did a 50 mme limit for even “legacy” CP patients.
Listen at 1:41:40! We need to be reaching out to Orrin Hatch ASAP. He calls out the fact that the expert witnesses (like Kolodny & Rannazzisi) and the AGs are using congress to further their narrative to completely vilify the opioid pharma industry. c-span.org/video/?438476-…
CALEB ALEXANDER’S TESTIMONY BEFORE THE SENATE VETERANS’ AFFAIRS COMMITTEE
U.S. SENATE
MARCH 26, 2015 (keep in mind he went to to testify before congress multiple times, then was a star witness for the prosecution against opioid mfgs. veterans.senate.gov/imo/media/doc/…
I don’t have time to delve, but the highlighted comments in the 6 screenshots, warrant a good look at the citations.
@LennonMaclean And guess what I found the other day? That the interventional pain industry groups that have recommended these as SOP for cpps are using doing this on purpose and then telling the govt that it’s cheaper in the long run to do procedures (SCS’s and IT pumps) More to come on this…
@LennonMaclean Letter from AGs in Sept 2017, to America’s Health Insurance Plans, “To encourage healthcare providers to prioritize non-opioid pain mgmt. options over opioid prescriptions for the treatment of chronic, non-cancer pain.” I noticed this gem from #TimDeer myfloridalegal.com/webfiles.nsf/W…
@LennonMaclean Here’s the 2016 Business Insider article Deer was cited in in the above letter. He went on to be an expert witness in opioid litigation. Seems like his loyalty to the AGs’ efforts on the WVA opioid task force, payed off. businessinsider.com/doctors-insura…
