Updated positions of (00000) USN 🇺🇸 EP-3E Aries II SIGINT 159893 #AE1D95 & PLAAF 🇨🇳 Y-8G (GX3) ECM 30518 #7A4262. At their closest, maybe 30km separated the two.
I think they notice each other.
For those who don't know, the Y-8G (GX3) is an electronic countermeasures aircraft (ECM) with what is believed to be a long-range standoff jamming array in the housing that look like protruding cheeks.

If it is a jammer, I don't know how effective it would be in close range.
The EP-3E, on the other hand, is a Multi-Intelligence recon aircraft. It provides near real-time SIGINT & video intel for fleet or theater commanders worldwide. It collects & disseminates data for threat assessment & battle space situational awareness, DEAD/SEAD, AAW, ASW & more.
EP-3E retiring from the area via Luzon Strait. RC-135W 62-4131 not far behind.

PLA aircraft no longer visible and likely also retiring.

The last open-source info I can find is that USS Connecticut was in Japan in August. Not much to go on for a position. Somewhere in the western Pacific.

Given the timing (October 2nd, Saturday) and location, I am now deeply interested in knowing what that "object" was.
Military Times now reporting there are several injuries but none are life-threatening.

Further, "the area’s topography at the time did not indicate there was a land mass in front of the boat", according to one anonymous source.

That's not lightning in the background. Those are power transformers cooking off.

Acapulco just got rocked by a decent size quake.
Mexico City seems to have experienced the same kind of power surges as Acapulco did, just on a much smaller scale.

While there has been considerable focus on Chinese interests at home & abroad via satellite, I thought I might take a look at some of the other lesser known Chinese (alleged) installations. Great Coco Island, Myanmar is one such location.

However, there is something lacking.

1/ Image
To begin with, the island airfield has remained in a state of incompletion, despite a widening of the original runway. Currently, the runway is ~2600 meters long, but has been this long since at least 2018 with no noticeable evidence of intent to finish.

One need only look at the measure of resolve of the Chinese industrial and military base by viewing bases in Djibouti or the South China Sea for evidence of rapid gains.

By comparison, the airfield has inadequate hangars or housing for any kind of long endurance basing.

I haven't said anything about the #SouthAfrica situation up until now, but there is becoming increasing concern about infrastructure attacks, food shortages, etc.

If I see them, I'll add them as a thread here.
A key component of the commercial infrastructure is the warehouses, which are getting targeted en masse. Discussions of larger corporations pulling out.
This was a meat supply warehouse.
