This morning, a Nigerian Police officer stabbed a young man, Wale a.k.a “Eleyele”, a tricycle rider, to death with a dagger.

Reason: Wale refused to be extorted of 50 Naira as it was the usual practice of the police officers around Ile Iwe - Command, Meiran, Lagos.

This has led to a clash between the transport workers & the police officers at Ile-iwe command.

The Police PPRO said “forces have been currently deployed to the area”.
Residents report police officers currently throwing bottles & wielding knives.

An unascertained number of people have been killed by alleged stray bullets of the police officers who are trying to quell the unrest rising as a result of Wale’s extrajudicial killing.

Viewer Discretion: Mubaraq is a young school boy, who doubles as a vulcanizer apprentice. He is home as a result of the COVID vaccine holiday, and has been hit by an alleged police officer stray bullet in Meiran, Ipaja.

The police officer who allegedly killed Wale. #EndSARS
We talk about young people often being victims of police brutality, because no one is protected from this madness.

“The youths of today are the leaders of tomorrow”…….but police don kill all the leaders of tomorrow finish today. #EndSARS
The Nigerian Government has refused to take any meaningful steps on the issue of police brutality because they benefit from our indignity and fears.

The status quo of oppression pays them.
What incentive is there to end police brutality?
#EndSARS
My heart breaks so much.
No young person should have to go through this from a country supposed to protect them.

It’s so so terrible 💔
Lagos CP, Odumosu will soon say no one filed a report about the killing.

Headmaster JideSanwoolu will soon say they are forces beyond his control.
Wale, the young man who was murdered had a pregnant wife.

Mubaraq, the young boy, has a blind parent who relies on him for daily needs.
My country, as a result of unfortunate leaders, keeps taking everything you’ve got.

One year after #EndSARS: Cowed But Not Defeated.

Last year, I was a stubborn, fervent, young woman with a heart full of hope & ready to fight irregardless of the consequences.

I fought the battle of my life alongside millions of young Nigerians.
As we fought to #EndSARS, we also fought for the soul of the country. For once, it felt like the fault lines were shifting & our voices would be respected.

Sure, we were fueled by pain, but in the faces of thousands of young people across many rally points, hope came alive.
Nigerians became proud to be Nigerians again. We remembered what it meant to stand in solidarity.

Today, I’m a young woman with a heart full of dying hope, beaten & battered by the state called Nigeria.

General Buhari: Your Time Is Up!

For far too long, we have allowed the Buhari administration dismiss & downplay the impact & reach of social media on our culture, governance & economy.
We let them lie blatantly about how we were simply wasting our time, called us miscreants, tried to delegitimize our collective power to advocate for ourselves on a global platform. We persevered, we mobilized, we crowdfunded, we advocated.
But once our online power began to spill offline, into the streets of Akwuzu, Ikeja, Lekki, Barnawa and Wuse, the government acknowledged us in the only way they seem to value; reactionary violence.

Partial Wins Are Not Enough! ❌

After going silent for a month, troll accounts dedicated to belittle my work & sowing doubt about my age & right to express myself as a citizen of Nigeria were reactivated.
They targeted me by releasing fake tweets & turn the public against me.
My stand on the reopening on the toll gate is clear; the state govt & the private organisation operating the toll have not been cleared of collusion with elements allegedly deployed by the federal govt to target citizens on home soil during a time of peace, without provocation.
Justice has not been served, and as a representative of the Nigerian citizenry, my only recourse is to stay the course of justice.
