A certain breed of Indian will invent stories so that he doesn’t have to see his history as it was.

“Arabs helped defend Somnath”

Yeah right!

Just as Rana Safi’s Qutub-ud-din Aibak ‘rearranged’ Jain temples to construct the Qutub Minar.
Then there is a breed who gladly removes his own langot to cover up the ugliness of our colonial past only to reveal a sorry appendage of perhaps collaborator forefathers or worse,a hangdog appeal to Old Masters for a pat on the head. Good boy ! Go fetch.
Nothing can beat the deracinated one who goes gaga-googoo over Heads of Govt. who attend Midnight Mass, Eid Milans, Sunday Breakfasts, Gurudwaras & what not but throw a apoplectic fit if a Hindu PM of a Hindu majority country worships in a temple …

Then there is the nasty, party pooper Indian who attempts to debunk an important much cherished festival on the day of the festival itself with a fantastical theory which he himself on a good day, would find it difficult to believe.

They do not realise that in their zealousness to constantly deride our history, celebrations & all that we cherish they unwittingly encourage people to read, ask questions seek answers.

So in fact, they must be thanked for the good work they do & the role they’ve taken upon
themselves - resulting in a better informed society that is now able to stand up & counter their open hostility, ridiculous opinions & claims with hard facts & confidence.
Who knows -
In turn, they themselves might slowly learn that the repository of wisdom alas, lies not only with people who eat with forks & knives & do tan-tan toon-toon in angrezi.

Every cracker in the NCR had a message that echoed through the country !
#Diwali2021

How did the State administrations & Courts, eager in their almost evangelical zeal, conclude that a cracker ban on Diwali was the solution to our pollution problems?
Is it that they don’t understand the problem at all?

Or is that they have no idea how to handle it?

Or was it simply a case of taking for granted a compliant community because all else has failed?
What seems even more surprising, is that they actually believed people would quietly comply on this very important festival & the ban could be enforced with a ratio of 150 policemen to a 100,000 Indians.

Even in the best of times the Indian schooling system is not remotely sensitive to a child’s needs, education or it’s aspirations.
Perhaps that one odd exceptional teacher could brighten a schooling experience but by & large the system is one of rote & elimination not education
To now sensitise these very educationists who if one may say, find it a challenge to handle even the conventional two genders to
“aspects of gender diversity keeping gender-nonconforming and transgender children at centre stage.” would be simply an exercise on paper,
whimsical at best, unrelated to our reality when so much more needs urgent looking into.

Out dated syllabus.
Innovative & interesting teaching methods.

~Imagine if our city had announced that this year for Diwali they wanted you & your family to come onto your threshold, balcony, terrace or garden to enjoy a fireworks display – soundless & green whatever that means between 8-9 pm in celebration of Diwali.
There would have been no mention of an insulting ban, no smug reproach but only a very novel, enticing offer.
Yes, my children would have burst their sparklers, anaar, chakris after our Puja and yes with our diyas lit, our mithai exchanged wouldn’t we have for that one hour
put everything on hold & come out to enjoy our very important festival ?
Calling out to friends & neighbours from across doorways, balconies & terraces to enjoy the spectacle.
This community highlight would slowly grow to be that display which year after year with our enthusiasm

Investigation & law cannot & should not take its course in the case of a Superstar’s son because he happens to be Muslim & more so he promotes an interactive educational, please note educational, online portal.
Islamophobic, what ?
You can’t say anything about stubble burning or ‘Farmers Protest’ because our Anndaatas have fed this nation for gratis. Free electricity, loan waivers subsidised by our taxes, not withstanding.
As for our Little Emperors,
instead of clearing a backlog of over a million cases they spout Shakespeare & such like, far removed from our ‘vernacular’ folk, take vacations as in the Raj & serve you Contempt of Court if you as much question their ‘wisdom’

A gentleman & his lady several years after returning home to England from The Colonies, invited an old domestic to their stately home.
The elderly chap who had since evidently moved up in life, drove a spanking new car with the wheels crunching on the winding gravel driveway.
Overlooking their own new fortunes they said
~You have done well for yourself ~ with a smile not quite reaching their eyes.

~ Come! Come in!~
Invited the lady offering him tea but looking on in some trepidation as the guest held the wafer fine cup in his big hands.
Meanwhile the gentleman stayed out for only a minute longer to key the shining car.

It had been a while since he had his eye on this model.
To think the domestic had had the temerity to come & visit them flaunting it.

So no, he didn’t feel the least guilty as he ran the key

Perhaps insensitive & unpopular opinion at this time but …..
#Afganistan
In the early 80's Defence Colony & Lajpat Nagar, New Delhi were localities that found favour with Afghan refugees.

Within few months in our fairly relaxed locality there were disturbing changes to our way of life.
From walking alone without a second thought to Defence Colony Market a popular place with eateries, bakeries & other stores we began to go in two’s or more
as the young men who began hanging around streets in groups seemed unaccustomed to seeing unchaperoned girls/women.
