COVID: Three more people with Covid-19 have died. There are 1,066 new cases confirmed, with 244 in Dublin.
Prof Philip Nolan:

“Unfortunately, one of the lessons from Dublin is that where the rate of growth slowed (with level 3 restrictions) within about 14 days it began to rise again”

After a month of controls, it’s now “virtually indistinguishable” from the rest of the country.
For every thousand Covid-19 cases in those under the age of 45, around 12 are expected to be hospitalized.

Around one in 5,000 will die, according to prof Philip Nolan.

🔊The HSE CEO tells a Covid committee that our health services need the economy and society to remain open as a lockdown would have impacts on their services.

There's currently 23 patients in hospital with Covid-19, four in ICU and three are being ventilated.
Dr. Colm Henry tells the Covid committee that child-to-child transmission of the virus is "relatively uncommon".

But he says it's inevitable there'll be cases and maybe even outbreaks, "but that'a a price we must pay in order to open schools again", citing the benefits for kids.
If a case is reported in a school, Dr. Colm Henry says it will be risk assessed.

They'll look at characteristics of the school, its infrastructure, the rates of community transmission, the number of serious illnesses in the school etc.

He says it's not a tick box exercise.
