S/o to the kid sitting in front of me at the @FSUFootball game that just chanted “Let’s go Brandon” and thought I wouldn’t call him out on his bullshit. #ThanksBrandon

I’m so mad that I’m so mad about this. I’m not going to change this kid’s mind. But he’s chanting “Let’s go, Brandon” while you men are on the field pledging to join our military. Are you a “patriot” or not?

Politics in this country aren’t a joke. They have real consequences for real people. They’re not truly affecting my middle class white ass or a college age white male in the same ways they’re affecting others. We’re gonna be fine.

But this little asshole doesn’t know that. He’s heard his parents or Lauren Booebert and Marge three names say this shit, and he thinks it’s cool. And I’m supposed to sit here and laugh it off because what he says doesn’t affect me personally.

THIS IS PRIVILEGE IN ACTION. NONE OF THIS AFFECTS ME. I’m a blonde white woman with disposable income. And I could ignore this little asshole, because at the end of the day, he is as significant me me as the shit I took this morning.

But he may have power later. And if he’s chanting “Let’s go, Brandon” at a football game, he’s not using that power for good.

So we just left a football game because we couldn’t stand sitting next to someone ignorant enough to say those words. But it’s easy to be a bad ass when you’re sitting on the sidelines. I left a football game and came home to my suburban house because my feelings got hurt.

The “let’s go Brandon” crowd is deriding a man who wants to clean our water, expand our voting rights, protect our LGBTQ+ population, protect our environment, and make billionaires pay their fair share in taxes. I’ll never understand how you can be against any of that.

I also don’t understand how to sit calmly and listen to this shit. How to turn a blind eye. How to just say “fuck you” to people who are worse off than me because I won’t ever be in that situation. How to preserve my emotional well being at the expense of the less fortunate.
