1/ The @CDCofBC provided a single link as scientific evidence for their #bced plan.

When you click on link, it doesn’t even take you to study, it takes you to a picture of study.

Go to page 18, and click on National and International studies. #bcpoli

bccdc.ca/Health-Info-Si…
2/ Here’s the actual study that @CDCofBC references. You’ll notice that the study stresses the CRITICAL importance of following IPAC mitigations in order to keep schools safe.

nccmt.ca/uploads/media/…

#bced #bcpoli
3/ The McMaster rapid review from August 2021 admits that none of the studies look at areas the deal with societal or structural inequities. #bcpoli

Remember this is the ONLY scientific “study” that the @CDCofBC used to justify having so few mitigations in #bced.
4/ If you’re wondering if schools in BC are following IPAC recommendations—the answer is largely no.

Community transmission in BC is extremely high, so is positivity & Ro is above 1. @CDCofBC continues to pretend we are endemic— to keep economy open.

health.canada.ca/en/public-heal…
5/ IPAC guidance recommends a long list of symptoms that should be tested, only 4 of which the @CDCofBC are testing for.

Contrary to IPAC guidance the @CDCofBC also refuses to use rapid tests in schools as a public health tool.

Contact tracing guidance also largely ignored.
6/ IPAC provides guidance for amount of testing that should take place —BC not following. Also provide definitions of outbreak & what do when there is one, not happening in #bced.

@CDCofBC is an outlier & is not following Canadian Public Health guidelines for K-12. Why is that?
7/ IPAC guidance provides guidelines that suggest that mitigations be implemented when transmission is high, and outbreaks are taking place. @CDCofBC is not allowing rapid tests to be used in #bced, they discourage testing & recommend isolating. Obfuscation is @CDCofBC’s game.
8/ @CDCofBC uses their BIASED data to justify keeping schools open & say they’re safe. Data is suppressed so it’s difficult to counter narrative.

They ignore all World & 🇨🇦 PEER REVIEWED science that proved that COVID is airborne & mitigations are required to keep schools safe.
9/ Why do you think the link the @CDCofBC provided went to a picture of a rapid review rather than a link to the actual study?
Why haven’t the @bctf, @BCSTA_President, @BCSups, or @JM_Whiteside asked to see any of the science to justify having so few mitigations? There isn’t any.

1-This is a thread 🧵 that looks at the annotated bibliography that the @CDCofBC provided for their back to school plan. They didn't expect you to click on the links and read it because if you do, you'll find a very different outlook than what they suggest. #bced #bcpoli #COVID19
2- Wayback machine says this document has been worked on as recently at Aug 16th, 2021 which makes me think it is what they are using for schools this year. Unbelievably none of the references are from 2021, before we knew COVID is airborne.

Dear @BCNDPCaucus,
✴️By now you may have heard that BC has not been following what peer reviewed science is saying.
✴️You may have also learned that the @CDCofBC is deliberately not contact tracing or collecting data in #bced so they can say that schools are safe.
#bced #bcpoli
2/
✴️Review my twitter feed for past year & you will see all the scientific studies that show that BC is not following the science.
✴️Key facts we are ignoring: the virus is aerosolized and Health Care workers and essential workers need N95s to stay safe, particularly with VoCs.
3/
✴️BC is also ignoring how the virus is largely spread. 50% of spread comes from people who have no symptoms. The @CDCofBC has ignored warnings from around the world and REFUSED to mass test asymptomatic people. This is negligent.

If I were @jjhorgan, I would:
1. Create an ind panel of experts from across 🇨🇦 (Epidemiologist PhD, ICU MDs, Stats, Eng, Aerosol, etc).
2. Ask Fed Govt for Emerg support
3. Ramp up testing & Sequencing
4. Use Prov, & municipal govt employees for contact tracing. #bcpoli #bced
5. Install @DrVictoriaLeeFH as the new PHO.
6. Fire P. Daly, R. Gustafson and DBH for endangering the lives of BCians and dereliction of duty.
7. Develop standards that are clear and based on science.
8. Hire new a new comms team.
9. Adopt #COVIDzero
10. Revise #bced guidelines.
11. Legislate data transparency. Tell the truth at all times to win back trust.
12. Revise vaccination schedule so that those in LTC homes get their second shot within two months.
13. Vaccinate front line workers immediately.
14. Acknowledge virus is aerosolized & adapt mask plan

1/Feeling a bit reflective today. Bunch of us have been advocating for better safety measures for #bced since last May. We were attacked by our own Prov union, our own locals refused to press for science, SDs hauled teachers in, & the media belittled us for asking to science.
2/ We haven’t changed our stance since last May.
We’ve been right about:
✅Masks
✅Ventilation
✅Schools ⬆️ transmission with ⬆️community spread
✅Asymptomatic spread
✅Virus being airborne
✅Test-Trace-Isolate
✅Long-Covid
✅MIS-C
#COVIDzero
✅GBD in BC
3/ The Unions now realize they backed the wrong horse and hung members out to dry, the media seems to have realized how bad things really are, SDs are realizing about Long-Covid, and our govt is still MIA. They have let all BCians down. What are we going to do about them? #bcpoli

1/ Today, let’s discuss the term gross negligence. Why you may be asking?

Because it would appear that Superintendents and Trustees need to be reminded of their fiduciary responsibilities —to their staff and students.

bclaws.gov.bc.ca/civix/document… #bced #bcpoli Image
2/ #BCed is an essential service.

#BCed staff are also considered frontline workers, and as such, are required, by law, to receive the SAME standard of care as other frontline workers.

Students owed a duty of care from the @bcndp, too.

Outlined here: www2.gov.bc.ca/assets/gov/edu… Image
3/ In Aug, the MofEd outlined safety plan in a court of law (parent court case) and argued that:
1. Masks hinder learning
2. If masks were required in schools then students would feel safe & might not stay away from school if they felt sick.

Ruling here: bccourts.ca/jdb-txt/sc/20/…

1/ I find it gobsmacking that there are journalists that can’t seem to comprehend that BC is deliberately under testing so the @bcndp can say our numbers are low— go out & shop.

The numbers testing positive are deliberately low, but there are thousands in BC with COVID. #bcpoli
2/ BC’s dashboard has claimed that we were in the 400 to 600 range for the past week.

The University of Washington projections say that we should have approx. 4266 positive cases in BC.

That means there are thousands of BCians who are positive and don’t know it. #bcpoli
In terms of projected deaths — we are doing worse than Ontario, which has 3 times the population of BC.

Meaning BC would have 51 daily deaths if we had the same population as Ontario.

BC is becoming famous for categorizing what should be COVID deaths as Excess Deaths.
