Update: Yes the RAF QRA fighters did launch AND intercept the Tu-160s before they turned around.

FYI, @Reuters has not yet made the required corrections to their article that would make it truthful and accurate. It was published over 24hrs ago, and syndicated worldwide, spreading their misinformation globally.

reuters.com/world/russian-…
The article is in contravention of the third Reuters Trust Principle, the one about providing reliable newswire services. This article contains misinformation and needs to be corrected. By failing to be accurate they are the cause of misinformation being spread globally.
TASS credits the Russian MoD, which is a primary source. The other three governments, and NATO, make *five* sources which all published statements in agreement; no incursions into soverign airspace occured.
tass.ru/armiya-i-opk/1…
If they're not in soverign airspace, they're exactly where they are supposed to be, in international airspace. These words matter, and each press release from each government was very careful and specific with their words, but the Reuters article was not.
You would expect The Daily Mirror to get it wrong, and they do, in their own unique first-day-on-the-job way.

"On Friday, the RAF said its Typhoons escorted two Russian Tu160 Blackjack bombers away from a ‘UK area of interest’ over the North Sea"

No, not "a" UK area of interest, it's THE UK Area Of Interest, their #ADIZ! The area extends hundreds of km from shore on every direction.
Now we have a problem; the misinformation published by @Reuters is contaminating the news. @SABCNews in South Africa has not deleted their tweet or deleted the syndicated article, which they paid for from Reuters, and they tweeted this lie as a result. 👇

Years from now some South African high school student will be researching how many airspace incursions there were and find this false @SABCNews story, syndicated from @Reuters, and then what? It becomes part of that kid's understanding of history, but it never happened.
The news media are the scribes of our time, and the lies they print, even accidentally, become "facts" when people forget about the context and errors of the time.
Unfortunately @USNews also got taken by the syndicated and inaccurate @Reuters newswire piece, and as far as I can tell, neither Reuters nor US News have any intention of notifying their readership they were lied to. This is how misinformation spreads.

usnews.com/news/world/art…
🇲🇾 As if the good Malaysians don't have better things to do, they're also being lied to by @fmtoday, not intentionally, but the lie doesn't care. This article is not accurate because it's based on misinformation that @reuters is spreading via newswire.

🇷🇺 On 2021-11-12 the Russian Air Force (#RuAF) made a long range aviation training sortie, which included 2x Tu-160 strategic bombers and tanker support, in international airspace.

Those are facts.
🇧🇪 In international airspace, they were shadowed by the Belgian Air Force.

🇳🇴 In international airspace, they were shadowed by the Norwegian Air Force.

Why hasn't @OttawaCitizen demanded an apology and retraction from @EarnscliffeCda yet? Their goon accused @davidpugliese, a well respected journalist, of being a Russian stooge. I assume @YaroslavB's unprofessional conduct is normal at Earnscliffe, representative of their work.
Louder for the ones in the back.

Funny thing, they're not just in the survey business, they do damage control. You'd want them engaged if you had an embarassing problem you wanted the media to sweep under the rug; like meeting with Nazis. Hey... 🤔

Did anyone mention he works for their Canadian federal team? If the Canadian government engaged them to sweep things under the rug, he's in a position to know that already. 🤔

🇨🇦 Why don't we make a list of the locations and planes so people can click a map and see where the plane or helicopter is they're looking to spot? We can do that. #CanadaRemembers 1/n
2/n This will also shows the @RCAF_ARC that the public can benefit from the #RCAF using Mode-S and ADS-B in Canadian domestic airspace, even if the rest of the country's antiquated infrastructure doesn't *need* it, we can use it, and they can do it, right now.

How many media organisations, alleged-journalists, and pundits, will display their ignorance by not looking up what an Air Defence Identification Zone #ADIZ is, and call it #Taiwan's airspace, which it is not.

Let's keep a running tab; I've dragged many of them previously.

Reminder: a check mark has nothing to do with accuracy or integrity, and @eha_news is clearly not a trustworthy source. They published misinformation at best, or disinformation they were not aware of, and issued no corrections or retractions when corrected. 🤷‍♂️

They're not alone. Image
It is rare for @dwnews to fall for this, but they fell for it too. 🤦‍♂️

The narrative wasn't corrected at the onset it's now spread like wildfire. Finding the same lie across multiple checkmarked accounts does not make it true. Parroting a lie doesn't absolve journalists from reporting the truth, and this isn't it. 👇

Kick back, this is an OSINT treat: 🍿

🇨🇦 #RCAF CC-144D Challenger 144620 (one of the new ones) departed #Ottawa #CYOW on 2021-09-26 with callsign #CFC3080, very likely carrying General Wayne Eyre, the acting Chief of the Defence Staff.
