Dundee City now has the second-lowest 7-day case rate in Scotland.

That means that the three cities of Glasgow, Dundee, and Edinburgh, have the three lowest case rates in the country (Aberdeen is a lot higher up).

Also, all of the weekly data has been updated, including the hospital admission figures here, which are still falling!
The weekly NRS death figures were updated too.

There were 115 new deaths reported this week, which is down quite a bit from last week, and the lowest it has been in a week in quite a while.

Excess deaths were about the same as last week though.
The monthly NRS death figures by intermediate zone were updated today too.

Paisley Central had 5 new deaths from the virus in October, which was the most in the country (without adjusting for population differences).

The full report here has more figures in it.

No new deaths occurred in October which were the result of an adverse reaction to the vaccine. To date, there have been 5 deaths, from about 9 million vaccine doses administered.
Also, the weekly PHS report was published today as normal, if anyone wanted to read that: publichealthscotland.scot/media/10181/21…

And a second report was also published, showing the effect (or lack of effect) of COP26 on Scottish case rates: publichealthscotland.scot/media/10167/re…

Torridge in the South West of England now has the highest 7-day case rate in the UK, after cases have nearly doubled there in the past week.

#Covid19UK #coronavirusuk #DailyCovidUpdate
All of the weekly data on the UK page has been updated now too, including these vaccination figures!

Looks like we should hit 50% of 12-17 year olds being vaccinated with their first dose in the coming days!
This chart was updated too, putting the overall situation into perspective.

Unfortunately cases are going up again, but hopefully it will just be another repeat of them rising for a little while, and then falling sharply out of the blue!

For the first time in a month, Scotland no longer has the highest 7 day case rate in the UK. That is now Wales, who have been seeing a bit of an increase over the past week.

#Covid19UK #coronavirusuk #DailyCovidUpdate
That is true at a local authority level too, where Neath Port Talbot now have the highest case rate in the UK, as cases in West Dunbartonshire continue to fall.

Also I'm not going to do a big thread this week, but I'll share some of the weekly charts below!
First here is this one, showing the current situation across the UK at a glance.

And also a few of the ones showing vaccinations by age (still no data on under 18s included in them though.. hopefully they'll be in there soon!)

I could cry 😭🥳🇺🇸

It has been a loooong 18 months
I've got some family / friends over there who I do hope to visit before the end of the year, if possible.

I'll keep everyone in the loop about that, but if/when I do go, I still plan on keeping the pages updated as normal. Or normalish...
There will probably be a couple of days with no updates (travel days), and I also might only do updates on weekdays so that the weekends are free.

But it is a while away yet (if it happens), so I'll let you know closer to the time!

As promised, here is a thread giving an overview of the Covid-19 situation in Scotland from over the past week!

First some figures on cases, which are still rising at a rapid pace. Our daily and 7-day average figures are now the highest they've been since the pandemic began. 👎
Yes, the amount of testing we are doing each day has increased by quite a bit.

But the rise in cases is outpacing that, which has resulted in the positivity rate rising quite steeply too.

Our 7-day positivity rate is now at 11.2%, which is up from 7.2% this time a week ago.
In terms of age, 15-24 year olds have the highest rates right now by some distance.

Although every age group is seeing a fairly sharp increase right now. Even the older ones, to a lesser extent.

Over 5 billion vaccinations have now been administered across the planet! 🥳💉💉💉💉💉

That accounts to about 25% of the worlds entire population now being fully vaccinated, and another 8% partially vaccinated

#Covid19UK #coronavirusuk #DailyCovidUpdate
Here are some more figures on the global vaccinations!

As expected, the rollout has not been equal. Europe for example has fully vaccinated nearly half of its entire population, whereas Africa is on just 3%.

And nearly 2 of those 5 billion vaccinations have been in China alone!
Also, I've changed these charts on the UK local page.

In addition to some design changes, the scales on the map have been updated to account for the rising cases, and the popups on it now give more information

On the table, you can now search for 'cities' to see just those!

Over 5,000 new cases were reported in Scotland today, for the first time ever ☹️

Although we did also conduct our most ever tests in a day, and the positivity rate is lower than it was yesterday.

#covid19scotland #coronavirusscotland #DailyCovidUpdate
Lower than yesterday, but still at 11%, which isn't good. Especially when we're reporting over 5,000 new cases to go with it...

Anyways here are some other figures regarding the new cases which were reported today.
And some of the detailed vaccination figures for the day too!

From tomorrow, the weekly figures will be included in these charts again as normal. 😊
