It's shocking the green book is still referring to Viners April 2020 study to justify lack of mitigations

Until we acknowledge the role schools play in transmission we dont have a hope of getting on top of this
1/
#edutwitter
2/ Viners review searched through studies, many weren't on covid and those that did were based on Preprints and very early rough data sets, its clearly wrong and any reference to it should be withdrawn immediately

3/ Viner comments around schools has been questionable throughout the pandemic

He lied about there being masks and social distancing on #r4today in late Spring after arguing for masks to be removed (which they had been)
4/ And he was a key source of evidence for the JCVI decision not to approve vax for 12-15

The Green Book needs to be urgently updated

Let's scruitinse the CRG
Who funds them?
Why are they meeting with antivaxxers and conspiracy theorists?

Opposition through disinformation and supporting opaquely funded groups isn't scrutiny

Certainly not a defence of democracy
1/2
Why doesn't the CRG publish its full membership and list of meetings if they care so much about scrutiny?

🧵Clare "seeding the idea" boosters will be responsible for deaths and its all a cover up

Still cool with platforming this @JuliaHB1
and @talkRADIO ?
2/ The HART ghouls are out in force today, twisting statistics to fit their confirmation bias

@RachelSJohnson on @LBC has a guest saying that restrictions are slowly down Covid's evolution into a mild endemic illness...
"Its well on the way to doing this"
More comments about Omicron being more mild

There is no data for this, just some anecdotes, said same about Delta...
Ah the guest was hereditary Tory peer Matt Ridley, looking at his track record I think he's done enough damage to this country without taking Pandemic advice from him
Ridley is a great example of the damage the privileged aristocracy can do

Educated at Eton, Zoology degree, becomes a writer for Telegraph, then gets a place on the Northern Rock board where daddy was boss...
Well that worked out well

🧵Nothing on schools? Where infection rates are already highest?
Even if Omicron doesn't turn out to be a big deal, we are already struggling, stretched sick and exhausted, also causing disruption and absence

@nadhimzahawi answer? attendence officers
2/ What does DfE decide to do on the day we have a special Omicron briefing?

Undermine local PH with a statement about school shows inviting parents in
3/ Ofsted are busy brutalising schools, showing little understanding, last week Covid was over apparently

Those quoted in headline below are Pollard and Semple
1/
2/ Pollard seemed to think "booster infections" was a reasonable idea
3/ Here he is questioning the need of 2nd doses for students (rethink time)
Again talks about younger people getting a boost from infection, talks about endemic and testing being scaled back

Miriam Cates read out UsForThems petition against vaccination at Westminster Hall debate, quoted HART and is vice chair of an APPG set up by Great Barrington Declaration authors

Shes pro infection for children
#edutwitter
She used the debate to repeatedly spout vaccine disinformation
Its disgraceful that Miriam Cates argued for halting vaccine roll out for students, quoting antivaxxer HART member Paton.

The APPG is funded by the opaquely funded Collateral Global whose members are heavily involved in Koch linked organisations
