We are having a tree dilemma. Get a real tree again? Get a good fake tree? Go for something completely different? Pros and cons, followed by a poll. 1/ #OhChristmasTree
- We have always got real trees. It is part of our tradition.
- The price of real trees has jumped enormously.
- I am allergic to real trees.
- They smell good.
- We have 3 real trees from years past still waiting to be firewood
- I am not comfy w/ the environmental impact
2/
- An artificial tree always looks fake
- An artificial tree still isn't great for the environment
- An artificial tree can be used over and over
- A good artificial tree is expensive
- Doesn't smell the same
- Has to be stored somewhere
3/
Last year, instead of a tree, we had a "tree dress" on a dress form, made by my youngest daughter. Husband is proposing some sort of lights and wire thing instead of a tree this year, and it sort of alarms me. 4/

So, is it pretty well agreed that if someone won't say if they are vaccinated or not, they probably are not? I mean, if you are vaccinated, why wouldn't you say so? Unless you're a conservative politician.... 1/
I know a lot of people say it's a privacy issue, but I want to know if, for example, my dentist and dental hygienist, who will be breathing over my open mouth for an extended period of time, are vaccinated. To me, saying they can't release that information is a red flag. 2/
Likewise, if you have to have someone come into your home to deal with a broken appliance. They should be happy to say upfront, and even provide paperwork. Or people who will be guests at an event you are hosting or attending... 3/
So, given that I send out boxes of baked goods and homemade preserves to friends and family every Christmas, and given that supply lines are running slower than usual, I have got an early start on my baking. #Homebaking#TVshowReviews 1/12
Because I need some sort of intellectual stimulation while doing boring things, like chopping, stirring, simmering, waiting for things in the oven, I have my laptop in my kitchen and I have been binging shows while baking/canning, etc. 2/12
I have seen all that is currently available of several shows, and am working my way through yet another. I have some observations to offer... #CBCGem 3/12
Fund-raising is a big industry in Alberta. Almost all the phone calls I get are either scams or fund-raisers. I am fed up. Albertans pay enough in taxes that the government should be updating burn units in hospitals, providing supports to families with disabled children...1/5
Supporting amateur sports, helping blind people learn Braille, etc, etc, etc. But no. It seems the money all goes to O&G multinationals, the War Room, pointless Inquiries, "special advisors", Matts, and other UCP pet programs. Enough! #FireTheUCP 2/5
We pay taxes that the UCP fritters away on pipelines to nowhere, panels that recommend exactly what the UCP told them to recommend, ridiculous levels of staffing (why does Kenney need a Director of Talent or a Tour Manager?) 3/5
Some people seem confused about the difference between progressives and conservatives. Here's an example that might help. Take education. There are those who see education as an investment in the future. Public education has a number of benefits to a society;
1/12
1) Prepares children to become good citizens, with broad understanding of a wide range of things, critical thinking skills, the ability to co-operate, negotiate, and generally get along with others, 2) Provides a baseline of knowledge and skills that are essential for life. 2/12
3) Closes the gap between the wealthy & the poor by ensuring children from poorer families obtain the same education as those from wealthier families. 4) Lays the groundwork for the next generation of professionals/tradespeople/citizens by including all rather than the few. 3/12
This doesn't work! Developers are in the business of making profit. They do not build housing altruistically. So, in this scheme, where are they getting their profits? 1/
Will there be an Ooops! when the houses are done and no one who needs "affordable" housing can afford it? Will the developers be compensated with carte blanche on other, profitable, ventures? 2/
There has to be profit or there is zero motivation for developers to have anything to do with this. 3/
Has anyone noticed the difference in outrage between a white male hockey player being sexually assaulted and any woman of any ethnicity being sexually assaulted? Why is it deemed so much worse? Serious question. #MeToo 1/7
Why is it no one is asking why it took 11 years for this to come out? If a woman reports a sexual assault several years after the fact, everyone questions the legitimacy of her claim. "Why did she wait so long? Why is she coming forward now?" 2/7
What the vodeo coach did was reprehensible, I am not saying it isn't. But how many sexual assault cases can you think of where there was such a wide net cast for anyone who even knew about it, where the victim was a woman? 3/7
